When the Queen attends the Jockey Club Ball at Woodbine _ Racetrack tomorrow evening she will be greeted with the hanâ€" diwork of three Weston artists who designed and carried out the interior decoration at the Turf Club Room. Philip Harris, who was commissioned by the club for the design, David Keith and Mary Staples Augustine, Denison Road, Weston, have been working since March putting the thing together in their combined workshopâ€" home for reassembly Friday afternoon. It is something unique. Philip Harris, left, overhead decorations. @ f o Weston artists dress up Turf Club The entire room will take on a Victorian atmosphere to commemorateâ€" the original Queen‘s Plate running, when Victoria was the reigning monarch, and one wall will feature a large hand painted cheque an exact replica of Victoria‘s gift â€" drapped in the Queen‘s colors of gold, scarlet and purple. Two columns will be topped with vases containing flowers and ostrich feathers. Another wall will feature a giant cameo and the enâ€" trance will be in the form of a summer garden house trellis decorated with white roses with a country scene backâ€" drop. The windows of the room overlooking the track will be covered with Austrians â€" white draperies of swagged silk decorated with thousands of live red carâ€" nations and roses. The ceiling will feature five huge replicas of hand held bouquets of red roses made of red cellophane. The artists had some difficulties locating the material but were finally able to obtain it from DuPont who make it at their Quebec Plant for pull tabs on cigarette packages. The large red roses are complemented with black leaves and the bouquets will be highlighted with pink lighting. The centrepiece of the entire decoration will be a gigantic jewel box which will house the orchestra. The musicians will sit inside a red velvet jewel box drapped with a pearl: necklace fashioned from ping pong balls and with a Christmas tree lighted (diamond sparkle effect) _ silver necklace. The project is complete and ready for installation by a crew of 30 during a threeâ€" hour time slot Friday afâ€" ternoon.
