by Dave Gerry Play in the Amesbury house league this week featured a couple of upsets. In a wild, high scoring game Friday the Cardinals held on to defeat Padres 25â€" 21. The Padres, coming off the _ previous _ night‘s thrashing, looked as if they were on the way to their first victory .of the season but a seven run outburst for the Cardinals in the seventh inning squashed all hope. Robert Korail and Robert McCormack lead the way for the Padres each with three Mark Puccini‘s three run triple in the fifth inning provided the margin of victory as Phillies edged Pirates 13â€"11 Wednesday. The Pirates offence was led by Robert Ricciardi who had one home run, two doubles, and three RBIs. In the tyke division of the York Baseball League Tony Divonovick threw a three hitter, struck out 16 and had two hits to lead Phillies to a 8â€"3 win over Expos Monday night. The hot bats of Hartwell Hayden and Doug Smith lead the Expos to a 16â€"15 upset victory over the previously undefeated â€" Cardinals Tuesday night. Carlo Villela and Gord Stechinson each with three hits replied for the Cardinals. Mario Rizzi with three doubles and six RBIs lead the way as the Mets crushed Padres 18â€"2 Thursday night.
