Awarded the Canada Centennial Medal in 1967, Dr. LeGard‘s record of community service is equally impressive. He was the charter president of the Weston Lions Club, serving from 1941 to 1943 and has 31 years perfect attendance. Dr. LeGard was born May 22, 1902 at Flesherton, Ontario. He completed his primary and secondary schooling at Toronto and enrolled in veterinary medicine at Toronto and graduated from Guelph in 1923. He was a member of the first class to graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College after its move to the Guelph Campus 50 years ago. Since graduation Dr. LeGard has remained an active and loyal alumnus, devoting considerable time to strengthening the university. He is a life member and past president of the Ontario Veterinary felines, the centre has a few of those available too.
