This group, which consists of boys in the Eglintonâ€"Caledoniaâ€"Dufâ€" ferarea, was organized three years ago, and has grown and expanded its activities each year since. This season will be no exception. The West Fairbank Atoms, who won the League Cup and York Cup last season in the Borough of York Youth Soccer Association, are happy to pose for a team photo with their trophies and medals. In addition to operating the four teams which have been playing in the Borough of York Youth Soccer Association, the club has also entered a Junâ€" ior team (ages 17â€"18). Last year‘s Bantam team has decided to move up as a group and play Junior this year. This team had only a mediocre season last summer during the regular schedule, finishing well down in the table of standâ€" ings. When the playâ€"offs for the York Cup were held in postâ€"season play, howâ€" ever, they suddenly caught fire, swept past higher teams, and moved right up to the final, only to lose after overtime in a penalty shootâ€"out. Much of the credit for the team‘s improved play and high morale is due to the efforts of Coach John DeCredico and his assistant Angelo Quatrociocchi. They molded the players into a cohesive group, and before the season was over the boys decided to move up together and play as a Junâ€" ior club this year. Gad Van Fabricating has agreed to Commencing the week of March 31, the Borough of York Parks and Recreation will be offering a variety of leisure time activities. This year‘s Bantam team will have a nucleus of gradâ€" uates from last year‘s Pee Wees, plus some new recruits. They have been holding indoor practices for several weeks under the guidance of Coach Bill Turco, who is new to the club this year. At the moment they have room for a few more players in the 15â€"16 yearâ€"old bracket. The Bantams will carry the name of Dalt‘s Honda this year. MR The Pee Wee team (aged 13â€"14) has a different type of problem. More players have been turning out for practices than the 16 which clubs are allowed to carry. They are about equally divided between boys who played for the team last year and those moving up from the champion Mosâ€" quito team. Joe Parolini is the coach. Joe is a Science and Physical Education student at York University. He was the first coach ever appointed by the West Fairbank Club, and has had impressive success in coaching the Mosquito teams over the past three years. In stepping up to directing the Pee Wees, Joe will continue his asociation with the same boys that he has worked with in the past. Sponsorship of this club has not yet been finalized. This year‘s Mosquito team will also have a new coach in the person of Phil 1775 MEYERSIDE DRIVE, UNIT 1, MISSISSAUGA ONTARIO 677â€"8526 "GO WESTON DUKES" VERGAMO‘S A A MINOR BANTAM INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE. 24 HR. Phil has worked with this age group (11â€"12 years) for the past two seaâ€" sons as assistant to Joe Parolini, and is already familiar with most of the boys. The team will have a few holdâ€"overs from last year‘s Mosquito team which went undefeated through the whole season. In addition there will be a number of graduates from last year‘s Atoms, who also had a very good season, and a few promising newâ€" comers. In all likelihood this team will again carry the colours of Gould‘s Drug Store, which has supâ€" ported the West Fairbank Club since its inception. The Atom team rounds out the West Fairbank entries. These 9 and 10â€" yearâ€"olds are always the most enthusiastic of all the groups. Roland Drevininâ€" kas will again be coach, as he has been for the past two years. During that time the Atoms have won the York Cup both years and last season won the League cup as well. Mr. Drevininkas will have some of last year‘s players back, plus a host of eager newcomers. Mel Ward, of Eglinton Wallpaper and Paint, has again agreed to sponsor the Atom team. Captain), Johnny Vakanis (Captain), Carmen Puzzo, Domenic Nesci, Tony Gallo, Lennox Cadore. During the past weeks, all five West Fairbank teams have been holding indoor practice sessions, stressing conditioning and skills, in facilities provided through the courtesy of the Borough of York Board of Education. The boys and their coaches are now eagâ€" erly awaiting the arrival of weather and field condiâ€" tions which will allow them to practise outâ€"ofâ€"doors in preparation for the league opening in May.
