| E 7 (By. H. Langtry.) â€"One of the most prominent princiâ€" ‘ples which have been substantiatedâ€"as a result of the war, and a principle which/is finding firmer root in the ~ _ «deliberations of the peace conference is that of democracy. It has been said that the‘ ultimate unit of demâ€" «pcracy is the local community, and »it therefore behooves each local comâ€" munity, whether a big city or a small _ _ town, to work out the ideal of demâ€" ‘_ pcracy within itself, I & With the readjustment period to .:j),é’ace now being, evolved in Canada, some movement toward the applicaâ€" > tion of democratic principles in the Q smaller units of the state is being made, but for the most part. .such movements will be undertaken by the Community Club in <theâ€"towns and _ villages of this country. It was a surprise to a number who,, wishing to take the early morning train, found, upon their Arrival at the station, . a locked waiting room and closed ticket office. It appears that the G.T.R. Co., through a policy of cutting down °xâ€" penses, were responsible for the lack of these conveniences. But at least courtesy might have been shown by the posting of proper notices, and the people would have been saved the trouble of phoning, thus putting more work on the girls at Central. It is to be hoped that in future when new regulations are to be enforged, proper notice will be given the public and thus save annoyance both on the part of the local agent and the would! be traveller.
