I wish especially to call attention to the fact that‘ there will be three items of special interest. Our school is once more getting down to business. One thing is very important and that is for the parents to be conscientious about getting the children there at once. It is very disâ€" couraging to the staff to have chilâ€" dren enrolling a week or two weeks after school commences. Parents, please see to this. The High School part is especially gratifying ot Mr. Mole. Grade C. was the highest last year. Now Grade D. has been found necessary, and it is taking up the full time of two teachers. In the High School there are two scholars from Mimico, three from Long Branch, and several from Swansea, besides those from New Toronto. Mr. Mole has now a full matriculation course being taught. This clearly shows the great and urgent need of a High School in New Toronto, and if our school trusâ€" tees do not get alive to this fact some other one will step in and grasp the opportunity. It is to be hoped that we will not let such an opportunity slip and with as little delay as possible get our own High School under way. The West Point land on which the Memorial Day sports were held would make an ideal park for New Toronto, We hope wherever the council decides to lay out. the park that they will let us have it by next summer, and have a covered band stand and dancing platform erected. It would be such a boon to New Toronto and afford great pleasure to all the ratepayers. Our memorial to the boys could then be placed in the park, although it would really be of much more service on the Highway. If placed on the Highway everyone would. have the privilege of using it. The New Toronto Brass Band held a band concert and corn roast on Monday evening at West Point. The music was much â€"enjoyed and the young people enjoyed the dancing till after 11 p.m. The proceeds are going towards the fund to supply uniforms for the bandsmen. The band purpose giving several little entertainments for this purpose, and we hope they will be very successful. A resolution was passed to join in with all municipalities affected by the increased radial fares in any action that may be taken before the Ontario Railway and Municipal Board. General accounts for $795.30 were passed; also Hydro and water accounts for $7944.40. A resolution was also passed authâ€" qrizing the clerk of the Corporation to purchase a cash register for the use of the corporation. The meeting adjourned in good time. Mr. I. Gormaly was appointed. Inâ€" dustrial Commissioner without salary for the year 1919. A resolution was passed to connect the Reg. N. Boxer‘s Plant up to the new sewer on 7th Street. It was evidently their intention to reâ€" move as many cloaks as possible, and make their get away in the hired automobile. It was. only by the prompt action of Detective Myers in capturing them singleâ€"handed that their plans were thwarted, and he is to be congratulated that not one of them escaped.
