Both Mr. Pé very much tou On the afternoon Superintendent Ha: was invaded by a the C.C.M. foreme ment being represc of our garages. Those responsible broke a window and entered the garâ€" age and took these three new tires. It is not the first time that tires have been removed from this neighborâ€" hood. Some special effort should be put forth to have those responsible apprelhended at once;. It is the duty of the town to run a few of these cases to the ground.. Noâ€"effort should be spared and it is learned that nohe will be spared in this case. Some people are small and do very small things. One of the most conâ€" temptible things that can be done is petty thieving. During the week there have been three tires stolen from one A little expense. would give tâ€"héSe ped- ple the enjoyment that they 1should have. This is indeed something that should be considered. Note the numâ€" ber of persons, young and old, who now use the dangerous hills around Weston and at the fair grounds for sliding on. Some accidents have ocâ€" curred. Could there not be slides made at the fair ground that would be less dangerous? It is the opinion of many that they could be and should be made. It would be a means of removing many out of danger‘s way. C..C. M BOYS‘ HOCKEY TEAM There is a letter in this issue from one who is willing to do his part for the boys and a boys‘ band. As a‘reâ€" sult of seeing the great opportunity of doing something for the boys, Mr. ‘Geo. Sainsbury offers his services if the citizens will form a committee to carry on the work. Is this not one of the things that we want in this town at the present moment? Yes, it is just the thing.. Music is one of the greatest educators for fine sense ~ of refinement. It develops the characâ€" ters of boys higher than they otherâ€" wise) would attain~ It gives the boy the necessary incentive to accomplish something. The whole of the success depends entirely upon himself. He learns the great lessons of life under i)roper leadership and practical trainâ€" ng. Can you do better than follow up this officer? It should be acted upon at once. A strong commuttee of men interested in the development of the boy, or the present committee that is now acting, might launch this as part of their programme. One thing certain is this, if the work is to be done it must be done at once, Don‘t delay it and start in the summer time. This is the time for laying the founâ€" dations and teaching them the miusic. It is somethingâ€"that should be taken up as a big town proposition and carâ€" ried out by a strong, well organized committee. â€" a real asset, but then there are alll the utilities, educational facilities and transportation facilities, which make this place ideal. One thing is bad and that is our road to Toronto. The city is going to fix up the old Weston Road from, St. Clair to the bridge. This will give a good road to the Black Creek Hill. From that point in, however, something must be done. This rbad is not good for traffic. It needs reâ€"surfacing or reâ€"building. It is out of the hands of the councils. But the citizens and the council can bring such pressure to bear that the commission will be forced to heed the appeal. If our council in Weston will coâ€"operate with \ the manufacturers, the York Township and all the other bodies, this matter can be arranged. Get this started now and then the woOrk will be ready this year. no better proposition to be offered than the town of Weston as a resiâ€" dential town, as a business centre, as a manufacturing centre, as a healthy place in which to reside. All this is The 1920 year promises to be one of the brightest in the history of this section of the country. In order that there may be nothing get away from Weston that should come our way, there should be some active way of doing things in Weston for Weston. There are many ways in which we can carry on an active policy that will bring Weston before the eyes of the public. One of the more important, however, is the securing of better roads from the city to Weston. It is one of the great drawbacks at the present time to our centre. Each man is playing a lone hand. They all feel, however, that much good could be accomplished if there was an association formed in town. It would then be possible for the local men to get.together and taik over the fine points about the different birds. Leading men _ could be secured to come here and give a lecture upon the different points in raising show birds. They. could _ hold little evening shows, where the training would be invaluable for the bigger shows. They would be able to. weed out the poor birds and get only the best stock, All these points could be well taken care . of by such an association at a very low cost. The local poultry mien feel this and are ready to do something. Let them get together and we will see results. I WHAT OF POULIRY ASSOCIATION _ : Once more the annual meeting of the‘ Fair Association â€"was held and now is over. Many new faces will grace the board of directors this year. For faithful service Dr. Charlton and G@. W. Verral \véfge made honorary di«â€" rectors of the Wbard. It was shown clearly that it fiays to . advertise and to give value. This was done last year and there was & big attendance and splendid receipts. Many expenditures on account of the lack of sufficient building accommodation were incurrâ€" ed, making a heavy drain upon the reâ€" ceipts. It shoul} be the object of the council to build a Jarge. auditorium which could be.qised for public meetâ€" ings, picture shows and rink purposes. This would be an asset to the town and also a benefit to the fair. The question of the permanent lighting system to be installqd is a splendid idea and should be carried out.. The lighting of the fair grounds would. be a step in the right direction and would meet with the approval of nearly all our citizens. This matter will be presented to the council and should be dealt with early. Many band concerts and big entertainments could be held on the fair grounds if it were lighted up. It might be here stated that the fair board directors showed considerable enthusiasm and will carry on éthis year as they have never done before.. Let the town and all come up to the mark and make our park a place of beauty that can be of use. We need this park and plans for its use by the public should be made at once. This is one of the great objects that the present Forward Movement is striving for. Men, women, boys and girls to take up an active part in this great work. If you are not in touch with the movement, get in touch at once. . See your rector or minister and ask him about it. If your church is not playing her‘ part in tahe great gameée, find out the reason, because you should not stand aloof with such a great work going on. Don‘t be afraid of the work it will entail. Then there foundation that we can only one solution to the g and that is true Christiar taught and practised t This is one of the great the present Forward striving for. Men. wom The citizens are now awaking to the fact that the different churches are out doing something that is really big. It is being borne home that there is something stirring among the Churchmen these days. True, the greatest and most gigantic move that has been made by the church is being made by the protestant Churches of Canada at the present time. From coast to coast every church is putting forth anCeffort to stir men, women, boys and girls to realize their duty toâ€" wards God and their neighbor. While speaking of the extensive movement to a person, the question was asked, how will you reach the man who does not go to church? It is the plan that this is the man that is to be reached. ‘ Big things appeal to everyone, A task ; to overcome is the grestest way to. Enlist menm. Once \ this spirit grips you, then you will go_ forth with a new light in your eyes,_ a new object in your life, and a help that will never forsake you. This great movement is most opportune. At the present timé, with the great state 3 of unrest facing us, we see that someâ€" thing must be, done â€"to combat this force. It also shows that the present basis of reconstruction lacks someâ€" thing.. What is that something? He impressed very strongly on those present the absolute ‘necessity of making every part of C.C.M. biâ€" cycles as well as possible: It would be had enough to send out parts to the Canadian trade that were not fully up to the mark, but when goods were shipped to foreign countries thousands of miles away defects could not be made right by correspondence and imperfect goods would mean loss of business and he felt every confidence in the high standard of workmanship prevailing in‘ the C.C.M. factory and believed every "employee would take a pride in keeping C.C.M. quality up to the C.C.M. standard. It looked as if the bicycle business in Canada would also be still better next year thgn it had been underâ€"the rather unsettled conditions â€" of last It had alwayg been the objfct of the Company to provide steady emâ€" ployment for all employees, although the nature of the business was such that it tended to run in busy â€" and slack periods.
