John Porter On March 9th, 1920, there passed away suddenly at his home, Hagers~ ville, John Hughes Porter, age 83. Mr, Porter was the fourth in a tam- my ot five and was a son of the late William Porter, a native of Yorlr. shire, England, and one of the first settlers in the Township of Vaughan in the early part of the' last century. As a young man the late Mr. Porter was a Prospector in Caribou, B.C., at the time of the discovery of gold at that place, and subsequently lived in the states of Oregon and Idaho for several years. At one time his part- ner in business was later governor of Idaho., Later he returned and' re- sided in Weston for a short time, where he married in 1873 Sarah R. Nason, daughter of the late William Nason. Besides Mrs Porter two sons survive, Wm. T. of Tacoma, Wash- ington; J.
