Miss Francis Willis, of Woodbridge, is visiting with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Willis, Lemaire Ave. Mr. and Mrs. Braden, Church St., left last week for a trip west via Owen. Sound and the Great Lakes. Mrs. Gordon Barker and family are holidaying in Muskoka. Two weeks till the big: time. Are ‘you ‘ready. for it? The firemen are arranging for fireworkh (and other interesting events. Prizes will be given for decorated business houses, autos, etc. On Thursday last‘ the Methodist Sunday School held thein annual pientc to Centre Island. The picnicers left Weston around eleven o‘clock and did not arrive home tilli}nine-thirty, thus giving them a good afternoon at the Island. Some passed the time in playâ€" ing games, baseball, etc., others wishâ€" ing to get cooled off went swimming, while others took in the natural beauties, also tasted the delights of the merryâ€"goâ€"round. Races proved another attraction, the speedy ones being awarded the prizes. Showers during the afternoon sent many seekâ€" ing shelter from tiime to time and spoiled the pleasure to a certain extent, but outside of this all enjoved themselves and returned home tired but happy after their day‘s outing. Mrs. G. W. Giltmore On Sunday afternoon gMrs. G. W. Gilmore, whose home is in North Tonawanda, N.Y., was stricken with heart failure, and passed away within a few seconds without regaining conâ€" sciousness. Mrs. Gilmore, who was 55 years of age, accompanied by her three grandchildren and a friend, Miss Seighern, also of North Tonawanda, had come over on Saturday to spend a few days with her niece, Mrs. J. Jackson, »Main .St., Weston. They were all enjoying a quiet social chat, when the fatality occurred, and. alâ€" though restoratives were.. promptly used, all efforts proved futile. Dr, Irwin was called immedia.tely, and. pronounced death instantancous. The body was removed toâ€"her late home on Monday for burial. _ in 1913, and has lived in Weston since that time. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Home Deâ€" partment of the Sunday School. For a number of years she has been acâ€" tively engaged in the nursing profesâ€" sion, and made many friends by her genial disposition and soothing minisâ€" tratons. She is survived by her husâ€" band, one little daughter, Ruby, her mother, Mrs. Sainsbury, Sr., of. Wesâ€" ton, two sisters, Mrs. Musslewhaite and Mrs. Louw, Weston, and six brothers, George, Fred and Alfred, of Weston, James, of Malta, Ernest, of England, and John, of Detroit. . Funâ€" eral services conducted by Rev. I. B. Walwyn, of) the Weston Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. Mr. Rodwell, of Weston, were held on Wednesday, July 13th, interment taking place at Riverside Cemetery. iSve 7 Mrs. Jolhn Pusey Following a serious illness of some three months, Florence Sainsbury, beâ€" loved wife of Mr. John Pusey, passed away at her home, Main Street, Wesâ€" ton, on Saturday, July 9th. Deceased was born in England, came to Canada Mr. Edward Lloyd Dickin. Following a severe illness of a week, Mr. E. L. Dickin, of Pinegrove, passed away at St. Michael‘s Hospital, Toronâ€" to, on Friday morning, July 15th. Deâ€" ceased, who was in his Tist year, was botn in Shropshire, England, but came to Canada, when a young man, and had lived in the vicinity of Claireville and Woodbridge since that time. For ‘ a number of years he was engaged in farming in Vaughan Township, later selling out and taking over the Elia Store, from there he purchased the Pinegrove Store, and some three years ago, owing to failing health, sold out to his eldest son, Edward. He is surâ€" vived by his widow, four sons, Edward of Pinegrove, William of Weston, Walâ€" ter of Downsview,, Charlie of Toronto, and five daughters, Mrs. Thomas Codâ€" lin,» Claireville, Mrs. A. Weatherall, Woodbridge, Mrs. A. Breckall, Edmonâ€" ton, Mrs. W. Wilgus, Toronto, and Mrs. Henderson, _ Woodbridge; also four brothers and three sisters, John of Weston, Stephen and Charlie, Toâ€" ronto, William in Saskatchewan, Mrs. Roper and Miss Harriet Dickin, Pineâ€" grove, and Mrs. Meek, England. Funâ€" eral services, conducted by Rev. H. 0. Tremayne, assisted by Rev. Mr. Bleckâ€" ett, were held from his (late home, Pinegrove, on Saturday, July 16th. The four sons and two sonsâ€"inâ€"law carried the body to its resting place in Hillâ€" crest Cemetery, Woodbridge. John Porter While engaged in his usual round of duties, Mr. John Porter, who, for the past sixteen years, had been in the emâ€" ploy of Dr. Carlton, Rosemount Aveâ€" nue, Weston, was seized with an attac« of heart trouble, and in spite of prompt medical atention, passed away within twenty minutes on Saturday evening, July 16th. Deceased was nearing his eightieth milestone in life, ‘but was hale and hearty and possessec of all his faculties, and took a keen delight in keeping the garden, lawns, shrubberies, etc., in perfect condition. He was a general favorite with the family and family friends, and will be keenly missed by them. One halfâ€" brother at London survives. . Funerai services, conducted by Rev. Hughes Jones, were held on Monday, July 18th.
