The whole community was shockâ€" ed when the announcement was made that Mr. Edwin Morrissey of 38 St. John‘s Road had died suddenly while at his work on Saturday morning at 11.45 o‘clock. Mr. Morrissey left for work in the early morning apparently in the best of health, to where he conâ€" ducted a shoe repair shop in the rear of Henderson‘s shoe store. A noise as of falling boxes did not attract the attention of Mr. D. Henderson, who was in the front of his store at the time, but when this noise was followâ€" ed by groans, he immediately investiâ€" gated, to find the aged man leaning over his work. Dr. W. J. Charlton was summoned and upon examination pronounced him dead from heart failâ€" ure, from which he had suffered for some little time. The funeral was conâ€" ducted from his late residence on St. John‘s Road on Tuesday afternoon to Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Morrissey was in his 56th year and leaves a wife. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. In them Beatty meets Gilding, while Dalton takes on Scott. Both should be great gamés, and the results in both will largely depend on which rinks get the breaks. However, on the form shown to date, Beatty should nose out Gilding, while Bill Scott should bump in a shot or two ahead of the evanescent Dalton rink. Breckenridga‘s Torontos, who beâ€" long to the "near great" curling agâ€" gregations, hung on «desperately to Fred Gilding‘s Aberdeens, and were only beaten on the last end.. Charlie Kelk‘s Q. C.‘s did a stern chase of Beatty‘s Granites, but for most of the way were within easy striking disâ€" tance of their distinguished opponents. N. J. McEwen, local manager of the Bank of Montreal, is curling for Beatty of the Granites for the Canaâ€" dian Life Trophy. The four rinks in the ~running are: Harold Beatty‘s Granites: Fred Gilding‘s Aberdeens, Bill Scott‘s Parkdale‘s and â€" Arthur Dalton‘s Granites. This is an off year for "dark horses," and there isn‘t one anywhere on the curling horizon. There‘s hardly a player on any of the rinks who isn‘t intimately acquainted with big gold cups or old silver cans with holes in their bottom.
