Owing to the illness of the pastor, Rev. Mr. Williams took charge of the service, and in a kindly, gracious manner introduced â€" the speaker, Mrs. (Rev.) «W. H. Graham of St. Clair Ave. Methodist Church, Toronto. Her subject was the famiâ€" liar story of the woman at the well meeting our Saviour, which she preâ€" sented in a pleasing, forceful manner, showing what a great work this woâ€" man did, thus emphasizing the imâ€" portance of service and the great opportunities offered to the women of the church today. A large and <apâ€" preciative audience greeted the speaker, who will be made welcome again. The young ladies of the Misâ€" sion Circle acted as ushers and the choir rendered appropriate music. Silver collection. On Monday evening, April 10th, the basement â€"of the Methodist Church was filled to listen to an address given by Mr. Kimura, B.A., a native of Japan, who is at present in his last year of Theology at the University of Toronto, and, on his graduation will leave for Japan to preach the gospel to his own people. Mr. Kimura served in the Canadian army for four years. He spoke on the need of Japan and the far East.. The truest religion is one that lifts up the huâ€" man heart, soul and mind; no other ‘ country needs the uplift of salvation as Japan does. The people in Asia 1 are waiting for a satisfying message ; of Christ. We are all human, beings, having the responsive soul which beâ€" longs only to the human being. In 1872 the Canadian Missionary Society started. Dr. Cochrane with other misâ€" Osionaries went to the far East. In ‘Japan in 1907 there were 247 Sunday Schools, in 1910â€"317, in 1914â€"392, in 1918â€"523, and in 1919â€"6584, an increase in 12 years of 337. In 1907 there were 26 Epworth Leagues, in 1911â€"56, in 1915â€"113, and in 1918 â€"162. ‘The Christian people in 1907 were 11,488, in 1911â€"12,455, in 1919 â€"38,108. Men must commune with each other regardless of nationality if we are to be a true Christian peoâ€" ~ple. We must give our best. He said he was firmly convinced that the war was saved by Christ. No matter what baaness there is in us, there is a cerâ€" tain quality of goodness in the human soul. Your help to us will give us encouragement of heart, mind. and soul; the way we show our gratitude is by becoming greater people. Christ is the Saviour of the world. He is our goal and aspiration to which we are striving to attain. The far East need our help very much. Your life is mission itself.. You must help the people. The far East have a lot to do with us. It is a material thing, it is the attitude of your heart and soul. You will find then that our gratitude will be amply repaid. The fundamenâ€" tal thing for you to do is to create a mutual understanding, leaving out prejudice. : After we have done our best, we will stand before our great God, and He will say, ‘"Well done, My good and faithful servant." This address certainly was worth hearing, and all the large crowd were ‘not disâ€" appointed. The musical part of the program was excellent. Miss Lillian Smith, Miss C.. Macklin and M. J. Cross rendered vocal solos much to the appreciation of all present. Mr. Ward read the Scripture lesson from. the 46th Psalm. The meeting was. under‘ the direction of Miss Dorothy Pearson and committee of the Misâ€" sionary ‘Gepartment of the Methodist Young People‘s Association. Next Monday evening a large turnout is looked forward to as we are to have with us Mr. A. B. Johnson, who will deliver an address on ‘"The Obligaâ€" tions of Christian Citizenship." Do not miss this address. A program of singing, music, etc., will also be, given during the evening. A hearty invitaâ€" tion is extended to all to meet next Monday evening in the basement of the Methodist Church at 8 p.m. sharp. This meeting will be under the Citiâ€" zenship department. Keep Monday evening, April 24th, open. On that evening you will be able to spend a most enjoyable evening if you attend the concert being put on under the direction of the Methodist Young Peoâ€" ple‘s Association. A varied program will be given. There will be vocal solos, and quartettes, piano solo, saxoâ€" phone duet, violin duet, comic readâ€". JAPAN FOR GHRIST COMING ~EVENTsS ISLINGTON TIMES AND GUIDE. WESTON Saturday, April 15th 51 Sixth St. New Toronto R. J. Bull, Mr. Arthur M. Markbam (publicity manager), Willysâ€"Overland Ltd. The piece de resistance, of course, was the presentation of the wards, which was carried out by Mr. Ken. Cruickshank, viceâ€"president of the Association, and the pithy remarks accompanying each rewara caused much merriment. Mr. Fred Adams, in a few well chosen words replied on behalf of the Overland team, and Mr. Trinkwin responded for the Canada Cycie and Motor Co. â€" The gathering, which was remarkâ€" able for the enthusiasm displayed, was brought to a happy conclusion by the presentation to the Toronto Industrial Association of a framed group of the senior Champions, by the Willysâ€"Ovâ€" erland Athletic Association and a simâ€" ilar group of the Junior Champions by the Canada Cycle & Motor Co. The Board of Control and Council of the Association are drawn from the ranks of men holding executive positions in some of Toronto‘s most progressive business concerns, and all are imbued with those qualities which make for success. The amount of enâ€" thusiasm thrown into the work can be judged by the fact that a week never passes without a meeting, and last season saw the executive meetâ€" ing assembled as often as three times in one week. The Association extend a hearty welcome to all business concerns to come under its banner, and full parâ€" ticulars can be obtained from any of the following: ‘ Mr. Ken Cruickshank (viceâ€"presiâ€" dent), Willysâ€"Overland Ltd.
