A letter was read from the secretaryâ€"treasurer of the schools, stating that all matters mentioned at the ratepayers‘ meetings and affectâ€" ing the schools would be looked into, also the matter of the school section supplies would be attended to. This follows report of the committee that was brought in a short time ago. Incorporation Mr. John Bayliss, J.P., stated that incorporation would soon be an acâ€" complished fact, despite the reeve‘s statements and actions. One reason for opposition of council is the fact of Mount Dennis becoming a sewage disposal area unless incorporated, also despite the actions of the late school trustees, the people were justified in spending their own money by persons elected by local ratepayers. ? Denies Report A certain report appeared in The Telegram regarding a statement purâ€" ported to have been made by . Mr. Pollett respecting the caretaker of the Silverthorn school. This matter was aired and Mr. Pollett took the opporâ€" tunity of denying having made any such statement to The Telegram. Radio Again Mr. Brown reported that a radio scheme for the community could be located either in the firehall or some other public building. If backed by the: Ratepayers‘ Association, it was bound to succeed. The expense would be little or none after once installed and placed in working order. Mr. Polâ€" lett said that the cost would be $250, which would include magnavox horn. The question was then raised would the novelty wear off? Owing to the peculiar location of Mount Dennis, which is of a comparatively high alâ€" titude, the concerts would be equal to any and would reach from 2000 miles. Dennis Ave. school was quoted as being an ideal place for an outfit, and could be easily financed to install Incorporation An Accomplished Factâ€"Will Likely Have Raâ€" dio Stationâ€"Wants $1000 UPPOSES INVI T ING REAVE T0 MEETING a complete outfit, although in the very near future it is expected «that the prices of the outfit will take an appreciable drop. About the only expense that would be attached would be the reâ€"charging of the storage batteries and the power would be obtainable from the lightâ€" ing plant. This is the solution to the main problem that confronts the proâ€" ject. Voluntary support was recomâ€" mended to maintain the outfit as far as running expenses were concerned. In order that the matter will receive the necessary attention and that it will be proceeded with if found practicâ€" able, a committee . was struck off comprised of Messrs. Brown, Pollett, Walters, and Watson, who will present a full report at the next meeting. Urges Unity The summer season has a natural tendency to detract from meetings. This was observed by Mr. Ralph Rusâ€" sell, who drew the attention of the members to that fact, and he urged them to make it a point of attending in order to give their support~to the various matters that were still before the members, of which incorporation and other local matters were outâ€" standing, and which were coming to a crisis. Lurking Danger Mr. John Sleeman drew attention to the condition of the stop cocks on the streets and of their dangerous condition. As a result a letter will be forwarded to the Waterworks Departâ€" ment, pointing out these existing menances. The question of dogs runâ€" ning loose in Mount Dennis was disâ€" cussed. Suggestions were made _ to have dogs kept tied up during the warm weather. Mr. Watson put up a stirring case for the dog, maintaining some very good facts. He said that people paid taxes for the dogs, purâ€" chased the collars and in several cases the tag, the collar, and sometimes all three had been stolen, Get after the chicken, thieves and the dog stealers, and let the dog do its work in guardâ€" ing the home, he said. However, the matter was not taken any further. Remove Fence _ Mr. Watson called the attention of the meeting to the fence on Eglinâ€" ton Ave. that had not as yet been reâ€" moved as promised, thus making a through road to the Humber. NMr. 3. Bayliss, J.P., stated that the fence should be pulled down at once, as it was illegal. It was agreed that the council were‘ to be notified of the promise with a view to having the matter remedied at the earliest posâ€" sible moment. Mr. Bayliss, in the course of his reâ€" marks, also stated that the question of the sewerage plant for the townâ€" ship was imminent in the Queen‘s Park and that it should be strongly opposed. > Asks Help Mr. Proctor made a stirring appeal for the support of the tradesmen for more advertising. N{any ways and theories were advanced for various attractions and prophesied as forthâ€" coming shortly. Wants That $1000 Mr. John Corssley stated that some action should be taken to wakened loâ€" cal apathy. He proposed that the Reeve, Mr. Miller, be invited to the Ratepayers‘ Association, and urged $1000.. Mr. Russell opposed inviting that steps be taken to get after that the reeve, as his figures would be cooked or prepared by officials. Mr. Crossley stated that it was his wish to get that $1000 for the hospital. He was not for or against incorporation. Mr. Pollett mentioned that incorporaâ€" tion had been discussed from every angle and it was unjust to begin fresh arguments, which would only incur further delay. Mr. John Bayliss opâ€" posed asking Reeve Miller, and was supported by Mr. Pollett owing to the fact that the ratepayers demand for incorporation. It was mentioned that the council were attending the busiâ€" ness men‘s meeting on Monday next. North Bay had three fires in three days recently, three houses being comâ€" pletely destroyed and a fourth damagâ€" ed Michael Stewart, an engineer on the C. P. R. received a scalp wound which required five stitches wher,x beâ€" tween North Bay and Brent, he fell from the running board of the engine he was oiling. ho l TIMES & GUIDE, WESTON S A NDE RSON‘S â€"DRUG SPECIALSâ€"â€" TO COMMEMORATE THE OPENING OF OUR STORE THREE YEARS AGO TOâ€"DAY, WE ARE OFFERING SPECâ€" IAL INDUCEMENTS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, MAY 5th AND 6th.
