However, as it stands, apparently the request or intimation as sent out, is in the first instance a direct warning to Turkey & Company that Great Britain is not to be fkl)aunt‘ed by any country that takes the rotion to demand what is not their own, and that the British Empire stands united. The moral effect alone is sufficient to warn the world that any violations will bring down the whole British Empire and possibly the English speaking â€" world.. Apparently Premier King will take the ‘ stand of "Ready! Aye, Ready!" with the added phrase "When needed," or it is quite possible that bhe will take up the stand of the late Sir Wilfred Laurier and submit it to the people. The stand of Russia and Germany cannot be definitely determined until such time as action takes place, which depends on the plans of the Kemalists. The invasion of Thrace looks to be the key to the whole sitnuation. If it is to be a Holy War, then the question of participants is already solved, as there would only be two sides, and in which India and Africa would become activeâ€" ly engaged. In any case, it is hoped that the war clouds which now threatâ€" en will not materialize, at least until such time as a complete recovery from the last conflict is effected. There will be no shirking though. as they had to murder their owan people and apparently they want an opportunity to commit some ‘ outside of their own bounderies. It will cost them something to do so, and if the late war drove them into bankruptcy, then this invasion will do more than that to them. Besides creating an impossible debt, they will have a few less to pay taxes than if, they had stayed out and minded their own busiâ€" ness. It looks as if they can only see RED, and as red is blinding, their position may be understood to a deâ€" gree. Of couse, the distribution _ of Russia following the war was a sore touch, but the next will be worse. in the welfare and administration of the country. This is apparent, parâ€" ticularly in Canada, and it might also be mentioned that the female vote was certainly felt. The personal touch has been sent out by Ottawa through the mediation of the Victory Loans and the added taxes on household essentiâ€" als. Naturally it rests with the averâ€" age man and woman that they want to know all about these increased deâ€" mands from the Government and as a consequence their interest is raised in so far as to follow up the action of the powers. Although the present situaâ€" tion may appeal to many and so fire their patriotism as to offer to enlist, there is another consideration that must be made and that is in respect to the finances of the country. Our present condition is not yery bad, but it could be better. One great feature and improvement that resulted from the last war was that the men took a greater interest It is true that other countries are undergoing ‘precisely the same condiâ€" tions as Canada and if the occason @rose whereby Canadians were requirâ€" ed for the defence of the Empire, there When Russia wanted relief they knew where to turn. They knew the tender hearts of the English speaking nation, and they turned for help, but they also turned again ard this time it appears that they are going to opâ€" pose us. It matters little, anyway, as they will meet their justifiable â€"doom. They have been too crowded, in soâ€"far a degree, but not enough to hold them in check. During the late war, the constant cry was when Turkey allied â€" herself with the Germans, to obliterate the Turkish nation so that they would sink into oblivion for all time.. They were to be shown no quarter, regardless of what happened. The hostilities ceased and Turkey went on just the‘ same, coming out later with demands. Deâ€" spite the great sacrifices that had been made by Canada, Australia, New Zeaâ€" land, India and the Mother Country, the Turk had the gall to make demands for certain concessions and toâ€"day they are openly defying the British Empire. What would have happened the Turks if the mothers, wives and sweethearts of the boys who had lost their lives had a say as to the disposition of the ruthâ€" less Turk? Would they have made them any concessions. Ask any of them that made the sacrifice. It is true that Turkey, was handicapped to and commercially. They are also Christians and this is contrary to the Turks, so between religion and posâ€" sibilities, it is the intention of the Turks to keep these people down. The great war was the scene of one great panorama which was later deâ€" picted by picture in the "Four Horseâ€" men of the Apocolypse." Now it is to be enacted again, but in this case the features are slightly different, alâ€" though war is the same where ever it happens to be. For years the const: ant cry has been that the Turks have been dealing with the Armenians in a most inhuman manner, stopping at nothing, and for the same length of time, there has been an appeal to the Christian public for subscriptions for the/relief of these people. Everyone has given generously, but still the Turk is allowed to go on â€"and do his murders and ravages. The idea is apparent. Give the Armenian an opportunity and in twenty years they willâ€"be a nation of the highest order both intellectually Going Eastâ€"T.16 a.m., 9.22 aun, 127 p.m., 4.00 pm., 6:86. pm, 7.32 p.m. $ _ Going Westâ€"8.03 a.m.,‘ 12.19 p.m 4.25 p.m. 7.15 p.m. 9.08 p.m. The Grand Trunk Railway have reâ€" turned to the old schedule of trains, operated previous to the reduction owing to the shortage of fuel.. ‘This will mean a great convenience to many business firms, both in travelling and mail distribution. The groom was supported by Mr. Jos. Snider of Edâ€" geley, and the ushers were: Mr. Henry Stephenson, cousin of the bride, and Mr. Torrance Farr, brother of the groom.. During the signing of the register, the bride‘s aunt, . Mrs. ‘D. Watson of Richmond Hill, sang "Enâ€" treat Me not to Leave Thee." After a reception at the home of the bride‘s parents, the happy couple left for a short honeymoon, the bride travelling in a navyy tricotine suit, with brown hat, trimmed with gold, and Isabella fox fur.. On their return, Mr. and Mrs. Farr will reside in Smithfield, Ont. z On Wednesday evening, at 7 o‘clock, at . Woodbridge â€" Methodist _ church, Ethel Victoria, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Whitmore, was married to Mr. Joseph William Farr, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Farr of Thistleâ€" town. Rev. Dr. Smith, assisted by Rev. Mr. Warren of Richmond Hill, officiated, wedding music being renâ€" dered by Miss Ethel Farr. The bride, who was given‘ away by her father, wore a charming gown of white emâ€" broidered georgette over satin, with tulle veil and orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of sweetâ€" heart roses. She also wore a pearl sunburst, the gift of the groom. Miss Gladys Whitmore of | Toronto, in shrimp «georgette over satin, with large black picture hat, and carrying Ophelia roses, was her cousin‘s bridesâ€" maid. Grace Farr, sisteer of ‘the groom, in pink organdy, and carrying A»new department pertaining to the education and welfare of the farmer along sanitary lines and general farm mechanics has been opened up by the | Ontario Government under the direcâ€" tion of the Ontario Agricultral College Guelph.. Bectures will \be: ~given throughout the province on Rural Sanitation, Sewerage Disposal and General Farm Mechanics. In addition to the lectures, practical demonstraâ€" tions will also be given, and in this way the benefits derived from the methods advocated can be seen and grasped by those taking the course. Mr. Newsome, of Weston, has been appointed to the position of lecturer. He is a man aell fitted for the work assigned him, havyâ€" ing had many years practical experiâ€" ence along these lines, and will be able to place before the eyes and minds of his audience concrete plans, showing results and how, with the ordinary appliances and farm tools, many _ of these modern improvements can be inâ€" stalled on the farm, both in the house and outbuildings with but little exâ€" pense. Sanitation means much to any community. Good plumbing is an aquisition to any home, and no houseâ€" wife realizes this more than the farmâ€" er who is engaged from morning till: night in dairy and other farm operaâ€" tions requiring a constant suply of hot and cold water. Yet how many rural homes have these convenicences, feelâ€" ing they cannot afford the cost of inâ€" stallation and because they have not given the matter much thought never dream of installing a service themâ€" selyes. Many of the boys delight in mechanical inventions, why not train them to develope these talents by putâ€" ting them to practical use. With this end in view the Ontario College have decided to carry the knowledge throâ€" ugh lectures and short courses to the hemes and give the boys and girls the advantage denied their fathers and mothers.
