Dated the 18th day of September, 1928 > ‘_The saving was not effected without a lot of pruning, and Reeye Dr, Mc Lean aand the members: of council are being warmly complimented on their ‘action. The rate is made up as folâ€" lows: County rate 5.8, HMumber. Bay bridge debentures 1 mill, sidewalks 8.10, publicschools 7.5, school debenâ€" tures 1.2, village rate, including roads, bridges, salaries, etc., 14.7. \ The report of Ed. W.. Brown, clerk and treasurer of the town, . showed that the waterworks was now selfâ€"supâ€" porting, while the most gratifying. reâ€" ‘sults have been secured. through the Hydroâ€"Electric system in town. . The ‘outlook is very satisfactory, from a business and financial standpoint. _ Woodbridge Town Council set a new record in tax reduction in York Counâ€" ty, and, it is believed, in the Province of Ontario for this year when they lopped off three mills on the $ from last year‘s rate, making it 31 instead of 34 mills as last year. _ The Council decided. that Hydro areas Nos: 1 and 2, Yongeâ€"Bt..cast to Markham, . and â€"Weston contiguity, should be proceeded ‘with as early as possible. s Whe workers in this community are to be congratulated upon the splendid results of their efforts,.,. The growth and development is certainly. noticeable in: every | direction, North York Township Council, at its meeting, . recéived. | the | arbitrators‘ award regarding the appeal of Albion Park residents . (immmediately north of Weston) against having to go about twoâ€" and oneâ€"half _ miles . to| Emery School, _and,, accordingly,. a new secâ€" tion is formed,.to be. known as No. 20. The award specifies that $2,417.53 be paid the new section by Emery | (S.S. No. 19),â€"and also that $2,720.94 be paid by. that portion of S.S. No. 19 in union with Weston (S.S. No. 21). Thomas Jackson was appointed foreâ€" man of Hydro construction at a salary ‘of $165 a month.. A\committee conâ€" ‘sisting of Reeve . Hicks, â€" Councillors Bales and Muirhead, was appointed to consider salary raises to the township‘s employes. ‘ The finances ‘of the School are in a strong state, and the future looks very bright for this Community â€" Sunday School. j 7 WOODBRIDGE COUNCIL REâ€" DUCES TAX RATE TO 31 The contract for a bridge on old Yonge St.,, west of ;York Mills, was awarded to D. Richie at $6,031.. Paveâ€" ments on Don Woods Drive and Denâ€" nis‘ Ave. were let for $11,824 to. the Asphalt Constructing .. Company. It is hoped that all those who have not as yet received in invitation to be present at the corn roast will accept this intimation. Rapid strides are being made by the Hardington Sunday School, â€"Harding Ave., Weston, in the work in their disâ€" trict. ‘The school is very strongly supâ€" ported by the people and the attendâ€" ance is increasing right along. . Last Sunday the attendance was sixty, with twentyâ€"four adults present. The colâ€" lection. amounted. to $5.23; which is certainly very good for a" Sunday Several items of interest were disâ€" cussed at the last meeting of the teachâ€" ers and officers of the Sunday School, among which the following: decisions were arrived at.. Owing to ‘the ever increasing attendance was found necesâ€" sary to purchase twelve more chairs. It! was decided to have a rally day on Sept. 30, and an invitation is extended School. j to all parents of ‘the children and all others interested _to be present. ‘This will be an open session,. and everyâ€" one will be heartily. welcome. It was unanimously decided. to. purchase â€"a supply of coal for the coming winter. Five dollars was donated to the piano fund which has been started in the neighborhood. . A hearty vote of thanks was vyoted to Mrs. Lee, who kindly doâ€" nated a bell for the Sunday School. After the ceremony a dainty supper was served and im mediately following the young couple left for a three weeks‘ trip to Philaâ€" delphia, Atlantic City New York, Alâ€" bany and other. points, the bride traâ€" velling in brown satin faced canton with hat and shoes to match and a French wrap. of, navy. poriel. twill. A quiet but pretty autumn wedding took place at the home.of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jefferson, Weston, Ont., on Wednesday, Sept. 12th, â€"when their eldâ€" est daughter, Ina Kathleen, became the bride of Mr. R..Rae Sutton, St. Thom:â€" as, Ount:, \third son of. Mr. yand Mis. W. D. Sutton, London. The ceremony was performed. by. the , Rev. H. Q. Hutcheson, of Malton. The bride was given away ‘by her father and was gowed in white georgette over satin, with embroidered tulle veil, worn in coronet effect, caught with a wreath of orange blossoms, and carried Columâ€" bia roses and maiden hair fern. Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Sutâ€" ton will take residence in their new home, 106 Fagrest Ave., St. Thomas. ‘There, however, comes the important question of when or how will these holes be fixed in the future. Some definite arrangement will have to be made when tracks and pavements are taken out. in future.. In the City of Toronto. they have, thetr construction gangs right on the job to repair quickâ€" ly any holes made in this way. . Weston will have to take.some action .or see that the contractors leave the road in the same condition as they found it, in. In matters, of : this. kind it is to the interest of every citizen of, Weston to look to the butt end and work to. the proper care of our. roadways which have been destroyed in this way. . In last week‘s issue comment was made upon the cutting .up of the payeâ€" ment and leaving â€"large holes. that reâ€" quired attention every, week and was detrimental to the roadway. Our atâ€" tention. has been directed,to the fact that this matter is being attended. to. Owing to the primitive equipment of works for fixing these holes, the Good Roads Commission intended having the proper concrete foundation and the top layer placed while the contractors are working on the upper end of the road. ‘This indeed will be very satisfactory to the whole of Weston and the Roads Gommission will be none out. $ hi c hi bechari ierts vonndienl e mecteciadiciet Toronto (Owner) s icunc.op o 5 55 Time, 2:16%%, 2.10%%, 2.16%%, 2.10)/3. aagah C{assâ€" Lady Extra, (Geo.
