Miss Simpson, viceâ€" president of St. Matthias‘, spoke briefâ€" ly, and Mr. Leonard Mills, president of St. Monica‘s, added a few words of thanks and appreciation for the fine evening which had been presented. Mr. Leonard P. Davies, president of St. John‘s, in a few brief remarks, stated that it was indeed a great pleasure to entertain the sister branches, and passed on a word of encouragement to the two newlyâ€"formed associations of St. Andrew‘s and St. Matthias‘. St. John‘s Branch (Weston) of the A.Y.P.A. entertained three sister branches of their organization at a splendid social evening on Wednesday of last week. Over seventyâ€"five young people were present from St. Monica‘s Branch, Eas? Toronto; St. Andrew‘s, Thistletown, and St. Matthias‘, Westâ€" mount. Following the formal opening of the meeting, with S. Wilson in the chair, the evening was given over to games, music and dancing, which was heartily enjoyed by everyone. The gathering was first made acquainted with their fellow members by a novel and interesting "Quest" feature, which was quickly followed by a whole host of other games which created a great deal of merriment and fun for everyâ€" one. Thompson dealt exhaustively with the three shows that had been held in conjunction with the school children of three schools, of the disâ€" trict, those of Islington, Eatonville and Lambton Mills. . She also paid a fine tribute to the work of the children in this connection as well as to the parâ€" ents who had helped in their several ways to promulgate that real interest which they hoped to engender. Secretaryâ€"Treasurer, J. H. V. Portch tendered his finaucial report, which inâ€" dicated that the Society was in a more or less flourishing state, which was most encouraging. Mrs. Lake, dealing with the work incidental to the window displays which had been carried on with such success through the past, paid a touching tribute to the kindâ€" ness which had been manifested by the several storekeepers in the district whom she intimated had helped in a wonderful way in the preparations for the delightful displays. Members Recently Elect Officers And Discuss Future Developâ€" ment of the Society HORTIGULTURAL ISTS ACTIVE PROGEAMNE The members and associates of the Etobicoke Township Horticultural Soâ€" ciety held their annual meeting and election of officers for the ensuing year on Thursday last in the Islington Public School, with a pleasingly large attendance of the public being present. The retiring President, Mrs. R. H. Tier convened the meeting and follow ing on a brief address in which she reviewed the work of the Society durâ€" ing the past year in a most entertainâ€" ing manner called upon the officers of the‘ organization to tender their reâ€" ports. All â€"reports were favorable and reâ€" vealed Khat the past year was one of progress in the Church. At the annual Business meeting, the church expressâ€" ed its confidence in its pastor and deâ€" sirious, to show its appreciation of his services since his coming last May, they gave a presentation of a beautiâ€" ful lamp for his desk. The pastor responded. with words of thanks and expressed the hope that he would ever be true to his trust.
