Dennis Theatre Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, February 1l1th, 12th and 13th. In one scene Hersholt, who is supâ€" posed to be a wayward father, pays a surreptitious call on Phyllis Haver, a goldâ€"digger of no mean ability. A trained mouse enters the scene and Miss Haver shrieks and mounts a table and then falls (deliberately) into the arms of Hersholt. Now Miss Haver is not the type of blonde that casts no shadow; she is of average weight. At any rate, she falls (intentionally) and Hersholt, being a gentleman in the picture as well as in private life, catches the lady:.; When Miss Del Rio made "Resurâ€" rection," she and Rod La Roeque had toâ€" master difficult Russian steps. When she filmed "Ramona" she used her native dance numbers. Every film in which the actress has so far appeared, required a different dance routine. Watch the venge". opens also! However, cloudy weather held up production on the air picture and Butâ€" ler had to leave for the east without Rollins. It was expected that Rollins would have to take a plane to get to the Butler unit as soon as he finished, but bright sun for two days and conâ€" centration on scenes in which Rollins apeared cleaned up his part in ‘The Air Circus" at 5 o‘clock in the afterâ€" noon, and at 6 p.m. Rollins was on the Sante Fe Chief headed for Hoosierâ€" dom to take up his next role. In the cast with Rollins are Sue Carol, Arthur Lake, Charles Delaney, Heinie Conkin, Jane Keckley, Cleve Moore, â€"Summer â€" Getchell," Henry Okawa and Aggie Herring. "The Air Cireus" comes to the Oakâ€" wood theatre next Thursday, and has as its theme the interest of young America in commercial â€" aviation, motivated by the daring of Colonel Lindbergh. KING OF VILLAINS HAS BIG CROOK PLAY ROLE Enter the villain, Lowell Sherâ€" man, whose stage and sereen roles have given him all degrees of villainous cunning and suavity. He is seen as the "irate husband" in a badger game racket which forms the basic theme for "A Lady of Chance," Norma Shearer‘s new Metroâ€"Goldwynâ€" Mayer starring vehicle, now playing at the Oakwood theatre Monday. Sherman‘s role in this new crook play is to arrive upon the scene "unexpecâ€" tedly" as the girl is entertaining a wealthy and flirtatious gentleman, threaten bodily damage, legal proâ€" ceeding and scandal galore, and then, after "his wife" has left the scene, extract from the victim as much as his bankroll will stand. Later he splits the "hush money" with his assoâ€" ciates, and the new day brings new flirts and bankrolls to conquer. Norma Shearer plays the fake wife in the carher reels of the picâ€" ture, but later falls in love, marries and reforms. ‘The trouble she has shaking her past is both entertainâ€" ing and amusing and makes one of the best Norma Shearer pictures the February 11â€"12â€"13 this corner. The whereabouts of Leon Trotsky, former Commander of the Red Army in Russia, seems to be a subject of a good deal of conjecture. â€" Hardly had the report been denied that he As a special attraction the manageâ€" ment of the Oakwood Theatre have engaged the Capitol Music Comedy Co., for three nights, Monday, Tuesdaq and Wednesday, February lith, 12th and 13th. This company of artists will present a one act musical comedy entitled "The King of the Caravan." The company numbers 15 people, singers, dancers and musicians, and the story of the opera is a very interâ€" esting one with dramatic and comedy situations well presented. If you like good music and dancing do not miss this superb Capitol musical attracâ€" tion,, which will play for three nights After going into a disastrous slump[ which lasted for more than two| weeks, the Toronto Maple Leafs hockâ€" | ey team came back to life to defeat the Boston Bruins by the decisive! score of 3â€"0 on Saturday and then| travelled to New York to beat the| "invincible" _ New York Americans,. until last week leaders of the National | Hockey League, by three goals to one. The Montreal Maroons played goodl hockey to hold the Pittsburg Piratesl to a goalâ€"less tie at Pittsburg, while the Canadians beat Ottawa Senators by one goal to nil. EP Sport in General The fourth test match between the cricket teams representing the Old Country and Australia is now in full swing and the latest® press report from Adelaide, Australia, states that the English team compiled a total of 334 runs to which the Aussies have replied with 131 runs for the loss of three wickets. The Australian team lost three valuable wickets for 19 runs until the 10â€"yearâ€"old star, A. Jackson, who was making his debut in international cricket, stepped into the breach and scored 7O runs before play was called. England won the first three matches, and the mythical champienship, and if they can win the remaining two test matches the counâ€" tries will be tied, Australia so far having won two more matches than the Englishmen. _ ¢ . screen has had to date. Gwen Lee and Johnny Mack Brown appear in the cast, as do several other welllknown players, at the Oakwood Theatre Ontario Well Represented At the British Industries Fair In Great Britain A world‘s speed record came tumbâ€" ling down last Saturday when Lela Brooks Potter, champion â€" Canadian skater, covered one mile in 3 minutes 20 and 3.5 seconds, while competing in the Ontario speed skating champâ€" ionships. s In the face of tremendous odds the fleetâ€"footed Perey Williams of Vanâ€" couver, Canada‘s premier sprinter and winner of the 100 metres and 200 metres Olympic titles, won his first race on an indoor track when he beat the field at the Boston A.A. games to win the unusually short distance race of 40 yards. C Some of the Canadian â€" firms exhibiting _ Canadian products _ at the fair are the Seiberling Rubber Co., Toronto; Western Canada Flour Mills, Toronto; Wah! Eversharp Co., Toronâ€" to, Beattic Bros., Fergus Ontario; Gutta Percha Rubber Co., Toronto; Canadian Hoover Co., Hamilton; Brantford _ Washing _ Machine Co., Hamilton; Canadian National â€" and Canadian Pacific railroads; Aluminum Co., of Canada; the Kellogg Co., of Canada; Quaker Oats Ltd., Peterboro; and Monarch Battery Co., Kingston. The department of trade and comâ€" merce is supervising the Canadian secâ€" tion of the fair. The Committee in charge of the plans for the carrying out of the Emâ€" pire Shopping Week scheme are hard at work planning for the event this year, and they have a splendid incentâ€" ive to strive to a further improvement from the fact that Ontario has at present well over thirty firms who are scheduled as exhibiting in the British Industries Fair, which is being held in London and Birraingham, simulâ€" taneously, from February the 18th to March the 1st this year. The City of Toronto is remarkably well represented at these shows, with Messrs. Simpson‘s, The T. Eaton Co., Ryrieâ€"Birks and Ellis Bros., and those well known stove manufacturers from the Town of Weston, Messrs. Moffatt‘s for all of these firms are sending over buyers, a number of whom it is exâ€" pected will also take the opportunity of visiting the large European fairs to be held at Leipzig and Lyons. Approximately 150 buyers from Canada alone visit this fair yearly and it is evidence of how Canada has grown from a domestic country to an exporting nation that quite a large part of the exhibition space is allotted to her.
