For Sale By MOTORS OF CANADA, LIMITED Weston Phone: 254 Weston, Ont. En _ 217 It has been intimated, however, that some hidden strategy is involved in this "waitâ€"aâ€"while" attitude, but Ernie Banting wants to close his entries and draw up his schedule, so make a bomâ€" bardment upon telephone 486â€"W. Softball Josh Henkell, Chairman of the softâ€" ball for the W.A.A.A., advises that the Senior Softball Series for 1929 is goâ€" ing to be real. ‘The softball fans in Weston and district will be treated to real softball this coming season. With teams from Moffats Limited (Champions of 1928); Bell Telephone Co., Canada Cyele & Motor Co.; and Weston A.A.A. (Westonias) there will be some of the best Senior Softball players between here and West Toronâ€" to. We assure the fans and fanettes (with their support) of real interestâ€" ing games this season at the Canada Cycle & Motor Co‘s grounds. _ _ Softball players wanting to play for Westonias in the W.A.A.A. Senior Softball League please communicate with Josh Henkell, 4 Lippincott St., Weston, or telephone 634â€"F. While at his work on the night shift at the Dunlop Rubber Co., plant last Thursday, Ernie Rowntree, former and wellâ€"known resident of Weston, had his hand erushed between rollers and it was found necessary to amputate at the wrist early Friday morning at St. Michael‘s Hospital. Rowntree was working at his machine when the acâ€" cident happened, and in some manâ€" ner his hand became! caught between the rolls and was pulled in. He was immediately rushed to St. Michael‘s hospital where it was found necessary, a few hours later, to amputate. The patient suffered considerably from loss of blood, but, according to hospiâ€" tal reports late yesterday afternoon, he was doing as well as could be exâ€" pected. _ > El The School Lacrosse teams will soon commence their schedule... It is, howâ€" ever, hard to understand _ just why King St. School lads are hanging back. The Cup is still open for comâ€" petition, and it is indeed hoped that Memorial School is not going to have it handed to them upon a plate. The Separate School used to have a smart team why not again this year? Surely there are still some people left in town interested in the lads and girlsâ€" Whgr not help them financially if that is the real difficulty. _ l Ernest Rowntree, Wellâ€"Known Here, Has Hand Crushed While At Work in Dunlop Plant _ Mr. Rowntree moved from Weston several years ago and has been residâ€" ing at 1057 Craven Road. place on it. Pop Curran, it is underâ€" stood, has some extra fine material he intends trying out. The lads have their eyes glued to the Championship, and that is where we hope they will keep it, and bring home to Weston the Junior Chamâ€" pionship for 1929 The Weston Amateur Athletic Asâ€" sociation Tennis Section held its meetâ€" ing last Monday night, and Mr. Ian McArthur, last year‘s Secretaryâ€" Treasurer, accepted the Chairmanship of this section, and thus assuring the Tennis players of his continued interâ€" ests for the success of the W.A.A.A. The Tennis Courts have weathered well, and some good rolling will put them in fine shape. The Central Unitâ€" ed are out to battle to a finish this year so the W.A.A.A.‘s ladies and gents should get out early and get into shape to regain the Gents‘ Chamâ€" pionship, and also endeavor to capture the Times & Guide Ladies Trophy. Lacrosse Off To A Start The Junior Lacrosse lads put in a little practise last Saturday, and are obviously restless to be at it. We have some good new blood available for this team, and every lad will have to give every ounce of his best to maintain a place on it. Pop Curran, it is underâ€" stood, has some extra fine material he intends trying out. ' & Last Sunday evening the Holy Sacâ€" rament was observed at the close of the service. There was a large atâ€" tendance at this service. * FORMER RESIDEN! HAS HAND AVPUTATED Thursday evening last, the Richview Young People were entertained by the Thistletown Young People in the Hall. He came to ‘buy a celebrated poison which I used at one time to be secretâ€" ly noted for, and I could tell from his manner that he wanted it for some fatal use. Well, I thought at first of refusing it aftogether, but what was the use of that? Some one else would have sold him an equally powerful poison, and the mischief would be done all the same. So, after a little consideration, I made up quite an innocent powder, which might cause a little momentary faintness, but which could do no further harm, and I gave it to him as the real thing. I couldn‘t take money for doing a thing like that, so he pressed this ring upon me. You see, it really has a history." _ . uons Lord Lumley took his wife‘s hand and pressed it tenderly.
