Junior lacrosse finals for the chamâ€" pionship of Ontario will be against Brampton on Sept. 7th; game will be played at Brampton. Sept. 14th game will be played at Weston. Your supâ€" port is looked for and an endeavor to be present at these final games will be very encouraging to the Weston lads. They have given you good clean lacrosse all season and have been highly complimented for their clean and clever playing on the field. They have done their best to bring back your interest in this, Canada‘s Naâ€" tional game. Remember the two dates, and give them your interested support. The great marathon swim is over for another year, and just whether it will be a feature of future Exhibitions is still a question. It has been sugâ€" gested of several who have followed these contests with a system of eliminations in the nature of heats would creat a much keener interest than the system of the past in startâ€" ing off a great number of would be champions. whose evident aim is to achieve some cheap noteriety; with this in mind making the final distance somewhat shorter, rather than have thousands of visitors who are attractâ€" ed to the show spend hours in watchâ€" ing and waiting when they might enâ€" joying other features, which have been aranged for their entertainment â€" at such great expense. § Toronto Dolphinets came third in the â€" Western â€" Ontario _ Swimming No one is pleased with the exâ€" pression made by the winner in the men‘s event, and three of Keating‘s countrymen were heard at the course to say, ‘That just settles him, for all time, it was quite uncalled for at this stage of the game‘. A _ sentiment which may well be attributed to the greater number of American visitors, it is believed. Let‘s forget it, is the feeling. Quite a large number of citizens were noticed taking an interest in the Championships. Softball finals agre still unsettled. The C.C.M. and Westonia are the two teams to play the final games to deâ€" cide the championship of Weston and win the W.A.A.A. challenge trophy. The date will be advertised next week. The matter was the subject of two citizens the other day, as a wired strand broke over their heads. "What‘s the use of the present auto license plates?" questioned a citizen who witnesed a near accident. "If I had tried to get that number at this time of night it would. have been necessary for me to follow the car." Just a little observation on the part of anyone will prove that jit is pracâ€" tically impossible to get the number of any license plate on a car travelâ€" ling at the legal rate of speed at night. Maple Leaf Public School Section No. 31 will hold its second annual fair on Saturday, September 14th on the school grounds, Russell Road. Weston Boys‘ Band, under theâ€"leadership of George Sainsbury will render musical selections during the afternoon. This band recently won first prize at the Canadian National Exhibition. While the fair will commence at 10 o‘clock in the morning, it will be officially opened at 4 o‘clock in the afternoon by Mr. James Muirhead, reeve of North York Township. Addresses will also be made by members of the Townâ€" ship Council. Public Inspector Wilâ€" kinson and Leopold Macaulay, M.P.P. for South York. In addition to the various exhibits of flowers, cooking, sewing, poultry, school work and pubâ€" lie speaking, there will be a program of sports. All the schools of Ward Three are invited to compete and this year, the new section No. 21 of Harâ€" dington are invited.. Mr. R. W. Macâ€" donald of Scarboro has been appointâ€" ed Principal to succeed Mr. W. H. Merritt. This is the only change in the teaching staff. During the sumâ€" mer vacation the interior of the school has been reâ€"decorated. The Advance of Women (Kitchener Record) The present generation is witnessâ€" ing a [remarkable advance by. the weaker sex. Their exploits and acâ€" complishments tend to dissociate them from <the term by which they have been known from time immemorial. Daily one reads of women attaining positions and performing daring deeds previously unrecorded. Fired by the ambition to excel their fellows they do not hesitate to hazard bold venâ€" tures. It was recently reported that three girls, a movie star, a German baronâ€" ess and a reporter who hails from Otâ€" tawa, have started from New. York on a roundâ€"theâ€"world trek. The things they plan to see constitute quite an itinerary. The September meeting of the inâ€" stitute will be combined \ with the flower show and will be held at the home of Mrs. Thos. Stubbart. Owing to the school fair the meeting is beâ€" ing held on Thursday, Sept. 12, instead of Wednesday sand all members are asked to note this change. This year six classes are being arranged for in the show and it is expected that & large exhibition will be forthcoming. Under the auspices of Richview Women‘s Instituter a most successful home baking sale was held last week at the store of Mr. La Rose, Main St., Weston, when the proceeds amounted to a substantial sum which will be donated to institute work. 5 RICHVIEW MAPLE LEAF MISSES‘ PATENT OR CALF OXFORDS Misses‘ RuSnning Shoe Sandals, brown or white. One plan is to go farther north than any woman has ever ventured before. They intend to use an automobile, an airplane and dog teams for this part of their trip. Greenland, Iceland, the Gobi Desert, the wilds. of Australia and several other distant places are included in their itinenany. #It is costing more than $27,000,000 this year to extend and improve teleâ€" phone service in Ontario and Quebec. IT takes three to complete a telephone call: the operator, the person calling and the person called. If any one of the three is at fault, the call fails. Uncompleted telephone calls are a serious public problem. We call attention to it because we want you to have the best possible service at lowest possible cost.* Every day in Ontario and Quebec there are over one million local telephone calls which are blockâ€" ed â€" a waste of two million minutes a day â€" a congestion of traffic â€" a source of irritation â€" a handicap to perfect service. & Some of these uncompleted calls cannot be helpâ€" ed and some are due to our own errors, which we are constantly reducing. Many of the failures â€" "Line‘s Busy" â€" "They don‘t Answer" â€" "No one on the Line now" â€" "Wrong Number" â€" originate with the other two parties to the call. We plan now to give publicity to common rauits in telephone usage in the hope that there may be a mutual effort to maintain high efficiency of telephone service, )ntario and Quebec there are over al telephone calls which are blockâ€" of two million minutes a day â€" a raffic â€" a source of irritation â€" a Child‘s Rursming 4Shoe Sandals, brown or white. izes 4 to Shoes for every memâ€" ber of the house on sale here With Rubber Heels.â€" Sizes $II § to 1005 mm oi ® INFANT‘S 1 STRAP SHOES With Rubber Heels.
