There was a very good turn out of Guides, Brownies and Cubs of Maple Leaf District at Elverston Park United church on Sunday night, Feb. 22nd._ On Saturday afternoon the _ Brownies _ sang ‘Happy Birthday‘ to Lord and Lady Badenâ€"Powel!l, the founders of our Movement. Towny Owl took the Brownies on a trip around the world by telling them a story about a little boy who made light his work by pretending the lawn he had to cut was a map of the world and how he hopped from country to country with his lawn mower. He felt very tired but happy after hopping across the Atlantic Ocean several times. "Hello Brownies of the 54th Pack. Hello Brownies in Canada. Hello Brownies all over the world." This was the greeting used to open our meeting last Mgonday as we observed Boy Scoutâ€"Girl Guide Week. Brown Owl! gave the Brownies a short talk about Lord and Lady Badenâ€"Powell and the Youth Orâ€" ganizations which they founded. As these groups are in many counâ€" tries of the world, our program was (flanned to remind us og our world sisters and brothers. We remembered China in a game called Chinese Water Sprites and Norway in a Knot Game. Brown Owl told a story about the Came! of the Nile, and so we remembered Egypt. We sang songs from difâ€" ferent countries, and then Captain showed us the dompany flags, tellâ€" ing us about the three countries the Union Jack represents and exâ€" &llaining~ about the blue and gold orld Flag of Guiding. In closing the Brownies called, "Good night Brownies all over the world, Ggond night Brownies in Canada, Good night Brownies of the 54th Pack, 166th Brownie Pack One year service stars were &‘- sented to Carol Bolton, Nancy Corâ€" bett, Norma Pender, Isobel and Naney Ree and Lenore Bolton.
