This time Levys as a club will be meetâ€" ing the Punchers, with Cam Ecclestone, better known as Mr. e ns on uties vys regular hurlers: The Brown Bomber still hasn‘t said anything definite about comâ€" ing, but the Mount Dennis Softâ€" ball executive are keeping their fingers crossed along with a few thousand Louis admirers. Just as an added note, the Times and Guide have tickets available for this game, at the office. Drop around. 2 Also down at Gibson is someâ€" thing new and different for Wesâ€" ton, namely the Weston Midget hardball team. These lads are doing alright for themselves, and with a few more games tucked under their belt should make a fine uhowing before the season is out. The lads look stylish in their new uniforms, and turn in just as stylish a game of ball. They have a big baseball night planned for August 12th, and it would do the boys a lot of good if they could see a few hundred of their friends and fans out to watch the fiame. Big prizes are going to be drawn for so all in all it should turn out to be a good m;ght. Let‘s see just how many hardball fans really reside lately and believe it or not some of them are OK. In the first place, in Weston. The Weston Seniors have been taking a beating from all comers lately and it would seem that soon the tables will have to turn or else Weston isA‘t going to have a conâ€" tender in the finals. Right now the lads are sitting in a sixth place tie with the Tigers, which to say the least isn‘t good. Monday nights game with Mimico was a tough one to lose, but the Weston crew lived upâ€" to their reputation of falling down in the final frame. Just what is it that makes them lose their fight in those last fifâ€" teen minutes. The records show that each of their games have been lastâ€"period losses, What‘s the answer? Monday night‘s game brought one thing to light that left a bad taste in any sportsman‘s mouth. One of the visiting players, supposedly an old hand at the gameâ€"supposedly experienced at ln.crosseâ€"supgosedly a veteran of fair play, and that giveâ€"theâ€"otherâ€" fellowâ€"aâ€"chance stuff, pulled a trick that only one wonf can deâ€" scribe "DIRTY". I always thought that the handle of a stick was meant to hold ento, not forâ€"jabâ€" bing in another fellows stomack. Unfortunately the referee didn‘t see the jab that left a Weston player rolling back and forth on the ground and therefore no penâ€" alty was handed out, but in my estimation the Mountaineer should have been banished from the game. We don‘t need to mention any names, for any man, and I use the term loosely, who would do a trick like that doesn‘t deserve to have his name in Tint, but believe me someone should give him his rightful reward, Do I need to say where? a _ e We still have another month â€"of the regular senior schedule, and let‘s hope that the lads pull out of their slump and get down to the business of moving up the standing ladder of success, There‘s no question that they have the players to do the job, but someâ€" thing, somewhere is lacking in that last fifteen minutes. What do you say Freddie, let‘s find the trouble and then the remedy. nine : ° Boss: "No. Why not get here by nine and find out!" He repeatedly robbed Mimico of goals, as the Weston team were playing short handed most of the time through penalties. The Weston Building Products Midgets have finisheg in first place in their group having lost only one game in eight starts. Their one loss was against Brampâ€" ton in Brampton where they ware edged 9â€"7. Tge Midgets are a nice team to watch in action, as they are nice passers, and have a good solid checking defence. George Mason in his first, start as a coach has come through in fine style, and has developed a contendâ€" ing team for the championship play coming up. George and Jim Austin, manager, have certainly done a fine job and are to be conâ€" gratulated. The Weston Juniors have comâ€" pleted their road schedule ‘and now have 3 games at home, meetâ€" ing < Brampton toâ€"nite at the Recreation Centre in the first one. The Juniors record now stands * 3 wins and 4 losses. The Weston Juniors have made a creditable showing considering they have only, 4 experience glayers in their line-lapâ€"Gord urlington, Lefty Chard, Tom Bennett and Glen Smith. The rest of the team is made up of rookies, most of whom are playing their first year of lacrosse. Bill Brunskill, who was to make an appearance for Brampton, has apparently changed his mind, as to date he hasn‘t played. Bill Whitâ€" taker, who hasn‘t worn a face mask in his 15 or so seasons as a goalie, has apparently won his argument against the O.L.A., as it is rumored the rule has been: amended to read masks are opâ€" tional for Senior "A" players. Doug Favell, Hamilton goalie, also dislikes using a mask. It will certainly be & fough task for the committee in charge of _the "Chuck" Baldwin Memorial Troâ€" phy to select a winner this year. All the Weston teams have shown improvement and there are several eligible players from each team. The winner of this Trophy will not be announced until after the playâ€"offs are over. Jack Ashbee and "Gus" Chard are previous winners. St. Catharines Juniors look to be headed for their second consecutive championship, to date they have registered 6 strnifiht wins. Red Hartley, Weston goalie, notched his goal a season against Mimico the other night. "C%\uck" Rowan, the work horse of the O.LA. has taken a well earned vacation, but he will be back on the job to straighten the many playâ€"off tangles.
