One Brantford doctor said he doubted if he had done more than one mastoid operation in the last two years, whereas, in preâ€"penicil}â€" in and preâ€"sulfa days he might ave had as many as 133 in a week. §nother remarked that he seldom aw mastoiditis any more and a third said that it had almost disâ€" appeared. Financial Assistance By meeting simple qualifications and â€" conditions, any â€" nonâ€"profit camp operated in Ontario, by an Ontario organization, for Ontario boys w@nd girls may secure: Aâ€"50 cents per camper for those remainâ€" ing 6 to 8 consecutive nights; Bâ€"T5 cents per camper for those remainâ€" ing 9 to 12 consecutive nights; Câ€" and $1.00 per camper for those remaining 13 or more consecutive nights. Maximum grant is $3,000. The Department of Education, through its Physical and Health Education Branch, gives practical and timely assistance "of various kinds to nonâ€"profit camps. ADVERTISING PAYSâ€"TRY IT; Until now clocks haven‘t been accurate enough to be bothered. But Sir Harold said the new atomic clock about to be built by the National Bureau of Standards, Washington, will really differ from the time shown by present Greenâ€" wich methods of relying on the earth‘s rotation. The atomic clocks will be correct. Mother earth will be wrong. The slowâ€"down is due partly to the drag, that is friction, of tides in shallow seas. The moon raises these tides. It works just like the moon using a rope to hold back the earth. Sir Harold said that although this long day is too remote to be important now, its beginnings are about at the parting of the ways. Other causes are the pulls of other planets and probably the fact that the earth‘s outer mantle In that day, too, the earth will always present the same face to the moon, because the moon‘s motion around the earth will be slower. You will have to travel halfâ€"way around the world then to see the moon, if you happen to live on the wrong side. That will go on, Sir Harold said, until it will take 47 of the present days for the earth to make one turn on its axis. Ontario Donating Assistance To Camps For Boys And Girls Health He said that because of the gradual slowing in the earth‘s rotation time today is not the same as in Babylonian days. Records of Babylonian astronoâ€" mers show this. Time is slower now because the earth takes longer to reel off 24 hours. _ This was the message of the world‘s chief timekeeper, Britain‘s Royal Astronomer, Sir Harold Spencer Jones, chief of Greenwich time. He is having trouble with the length of the day, he reported to the American Philosophical Society. The world is about to face a choice between two kinds of time, because the earth‘s rate of rotaâ€" tion is slowing. World Soon Will Have To Choose Between 2 Times CARL E. HILL, M.D., M.O.H. In addition it will try to assist camps with advice regarding any camp problems, and (within reasonable distance) try to supply conference or staffâ€"meeting.programâ€"personnel on request at little or no expense. The department‘s desire is, in every way possible, to foster better and better camping for more and more boys and girls. These courses are open to any Ontario Secondary School pupil, 15 years of age or over, who has comâ€" pleted at least grade 9 by July 1, 1949. The training is taken in camp, the leadership being experiâ€" enced camp people.
