The ceremony was observed in the Aldgate avenue Baptist church, the officiating minister being Rev. Roy Cook of Farmer Memorial church, assisted by Pastor Stanley Woodcockk. Well and very fayourâ€" ably known, throughout the district, the bride chas many friends, and these were well repâ€" resented at the service. A recepâ€" tion was held later in the evening, at the Queen Elizabeth Lodge, Port Credit, attended by close friends of the bride and groom. We understand that the newly wedded couple will take up resiâ€" dence in north Toronto. Another Wedding . A â€" wedding, _ also _ of _ local interest, is scheduled to take place tamorrow (Sept. 17) at the Aldgate Avenue Baptist church, Humber Bay. The contracting parties are Miss Roberta Dunn, daughter of Mr. and Mrg. Robert Dunn, of High St., and Edward (Ted) Hendric. We believe the ceremony will be observed at four o‘clock in the afternoon, We fain would take issue with the president of the weekly referred to, because we don‘"t believe it, and because the old Humber is just about ready to build a public library, the first in this township. One public library to every two Canadians is riot necessary, but more public libraries in many municipalities are long overdte. Those typographical errors can sure upset the best efforts of any newspaper. . â€" â€" referred recently to an item which, he said, had appeared in a local weekly. We believe the weekly was The Etobicoke Press. The item stated that in Canada there were six million public libraries (6,000,000). Wedding The question of amalgamation of New Toronto and Long Branch, is a matter which concerns the residents and taxpayers of those two districts. The question of including a portion of Etobicoke, in the proâ€" posed amalgamation, is a matter which ‘concerns‘ the taxpayers of our township. In a recent published article, George Cooke of Long Branch, recommends the inclusion _ of Mimico and a part of Etobicoke. The promotors of the scheme would have none of it, as far as they were concerned, Etobicoke could keep Etobicoke, and this is 'jiult what Etobicokek proposes to o. We wish the town of New Toronto and the village of Long Branch, every success in whatever steps they take, for their mutual benefit, if and provided no intruâ€" sion is attempted, which would be of an undesirable character to the best interests of the township of Etobicoke. In the days of yester year when the question of Lakeshore town amalgamation was first mooted, a certain part of the southern district of our township, could probably have been annexed withâ€" out difficulty. by the promoters of the scheme. It is on record that a former reeve of Etobicoke was in favour of the annexation, but this was to get rid of a township headache, which was felt at that particular time, and times were not so good for those in municipal authority. Time Marches On In very plain language on a number of occasions, Etobicoke township fathers have expressed their views upon the matter, and these views do not include the parting with a single foot of revenue producing lands, which form an integral and necessary part of the township of Etobicoke. The fall of the year is again with us, and with the fall, comes the usual annual elections. As far as our township is concerned, it would seem imperative to "induce the present members of the Township Council, to continue in office for another term, at least. revenue . producing nature to the Treasury of Etobiocke, The suggestion . by brother Cooke is not at all: new, it has been ‘brought forward time and time again, and as far as Etobiocke is concerned, with little chance of the suggestion being adopted. The water and sewage situation is very much with us, and the present council is very cognizant of the fact. A considerable amount of money is involved, in a number of municipal items, now receiving the consideration and action by members of council, and if the personnel is willing, no interrupâ€" tion . by an election, should be permitted. There are of course some who will disagree with our observaâ€" tions, we have been told, it is time for an election this year. We respect the opinions of others, and we claim the right to express ours. It is our opinion that having regard to the serious situation at present existing, for the benefit of the general community, it will be well to keep the present in fypiCr Yz # e Residing in Canada for less than a year, a chap from Poland (Joseph Domagalski) was charged with malicious damage. The case was heard in the Islington Police Court. A Toronto report stated that oil soaked rags, were found ignited in the girls‘ dormitory of the Ontarioâ€" Hydro Electric Camp, on Kipling avenue. The magisâ€" trate dismissed the charge as no intent was disclosed. We kind of wondered why a girls dormitory was included in the big provincial utility plant, as mentioned in the Toronto report. Charge Level Crossings Serious traffic accidents conâ€" tinue to occur at railway level crossings, throughout the province. Our township is not free from these unfortunate incidents. There have been several such accidents recently reported in Etobicoke. On Thursday of last week a truck was struck by a passenger train at Bloor near Islington avenue, and one of two occuparits of the truck was seriously injured. Most of the truck and its contents (soft drinks and bottles) was demolishâ€" ed and strewn along the track. At Police Court Saul Cooperman was sentenced to two years (suspended sentence) for theft. ‘The defendant was ordered to make resitution of five hundred dollars, to the complainâ€" ant, a Weston d:slrtment. store. Cooperman blam his position upon the actions of his inâ€"laws. Both men involved in the acciâ€" dent were removed to St. Joseph‘s Hospital, they were Calvon Torme, who was critically hurt, and Ralph Casmiri, who suffered only minor injuries, it was reported. One statement has it, that the warning signal was operating, when ~the â€"driverâ€"attempted â€"to cross the tracks. â€" County Levy In conversation with the Reeve (Clive M. Sinclair) some time ago, we got the impression, that as far as Etobicoke was concerned, the but folks, time has a habit of marching on, and it is suggested that some thought be given by the taxpayers of the township, as to the undesirability of an unnecésâ€" sary election. Some time after the accident, a passing truck driver stopped, on the tracks to survey the scene, and he was reminded by a police offiâ€" cer, who happened along, that a fast freight was approaching the crossing. This truck driver very quickly proceeded on his way. guard its interest, _‘ _.} _.â€"â€" ‘The municipal election does not take place until December, and that may be a few weeks ‘ahead, Advertising Paysâ€" The crossing of a busy traffic artery, should be eliminated as far as is possible. .
