Weston: This letter is written in protest to the ill treatment being given to our Junior Hockey Team of last year, who won the All Ontario Junâ€" ior C. Hockey Championship. ____ _ Such an offer merits the support of everyone in Weston! It obligates the parents, brothers and sisters to come out and support as many arena activities as possible to inâ€" sure its success financially and to show these men that such an opâ€" portunity is appreciated. _ The hours thus provided are of the best availableâ€"after 4 p.m. weekdays and any time on Saturâ€" days. The ice time could be sold by the management at the rate of $25 per hour. This is truly a magnaâ€" nimous offer and a gesture of real importance in that it shows to the people ofâ€" Weston, the arenaâ€"trusâ€" tees and the Lions club are out to increase the opportunity for chilâ€" dren to participate in winter sports under ideal conditions. The purpose of the meeting was to determine the number of hours per week that the arena ice would be offered to the children‘s hockey teams, figure skating instruction. The resultant decision was that there would be 20 hours of free time availableâ€"â€"~without charge to the children or to the municipal recreation authority, i.e., the Wesâ€" ton Community Council. I met with the arens board of trustees this past week to discuss the availability of the arena for use by the children of our town. The board includes Alex Lawson, Fred Smith, Wilford Duffy, Carl Caskey, Dr. Alan Bull, Dr. Mel LeGard, Clerk Wardiaw, Clare Coleman and Harold Stonchouse. Such honesty and integrity is worthy of high commendation and furthérmore is a splendid example of thought and consideration for others, some of whom forget even important items as the writer did. C.
