If there are any folks who were out when they called and would like to order some, get in much win a. Guidyor Brownie and they will be glad to put you down for a box or two. Mr. and Mrs. Skinner and Billy have moved to Mount Dennis and we wish them all the best in their new home, . St. Andrew's choir joined with the evening service and rendered two beautiful anthems, which I'm sure were enjoyed by all. The first Home and School meet- ing was held on Monday. A very hand crowd turned out. Parents had the opportunity of meeting the principal and teachers. An out- line of the work of each class was given. It was a very satisfactory beginning of the Home and School. We were pleased to see so many out to both morning and evening services at the church. Mr. Baug- burst tdok both services, taking Psalm 103 as his topic in the morning and in the evening Chron- icles 5; 7: 1-3. The school enrolment at present is 252. and it is felt that this will probably increase next year with the resulting need fur expansion. Move next week on what is to be expected. Mrs. Bcrty, Public Health Nurse, wus introduced to the group, but was unable to speak due to an attack of laryngitis. Mr. Miserwr spoke for Mr. Orrett, who was absent. As Vice-Principal, he is in charge of supplies and sports for the tichool, and if the program so: behrre the parents is any basis for judgment, we may well expect outstanding things from the older children particularly, in the fU< ture. Far-sighted plans have been laid by the entire staff with an eye towards making nur children responsible citizens. There is even a possibility of a Student's Coun- cil fur the senior grades. l "i?----:---:":""] 31a 5,91"??? m " in PM beginning with In. There will be a Brownie and ur', I can but briefly mention, I say briefly because I was unfortun- ately unable to attend the Bever- ley Hills Taxpayers meeting the other evening owing to sickness. ‘Anyhow the highlight of the (evening was the guest speaker, Mr. F. C. Sues. Principal of Tum- pane School, Topic of conversation ‘was to organize in Homes and School Group, and at the moment it is still in its infancy. It will be greatly appreciated by all pa- rents I fell sure to bring this about, so that there will be closer understandings with both parents and teachers. In the meanwhile, I gather there is to be an afternoon in a couple of weeks' time (I'll get the exact date later) wherei mothers will be invited to the school for ten and a. chat with teachers. On closing this week may I mention that on Oct. 13th starts another Red Feather Campaign. This as you all know is a very worthy causn, su give generously. _ Now l have some good news for 'everyone. A “Hard Time Dance" (will he held at the Tumpane School on Friday, Oct, 17th at ‘800 pm. Yes, this will be one of many social events that the Bev- erley Hills Taxpayers' Association will be organizing. There should be loads of fun with prizes for many lucky couples, and rounded off with refreshments. The Taxpay- ers' Association will be (if not already) sending street represents tives around with tickets, which are $1.00 per couple. This will be the first dance of the season, and we must make it a real success. This can only be done if you all make the effort to attend. Don’t forget this is a Hard Time Dance, so there will be no excuse by say- ing you haven't a thing to wear. So come on Beverleyites, dig out your worst bib and tucker and make it a date. I would also like to mention while on the subject that another big event is set for Oct. 31st, at Tumpane School. This will be the Hallowe'en Party for all the kid. dies. The Taxpayers' Association will also be running this. So start fixing up a fancy dress costume mothers for' your youngsters. I have mentioned this news well in advance so that you will have. plenty of time to think up some- thing original for them to wear. Further details on the event I'll give you later. I). D.
