R, Anderson, formerly of Cochrane, now of Toronto, was | associated, when he was bank manâ€" {ager in Cochrane when Rev. Kell | was pastor there for five yers. He brought greetings from this former |charge and also recalled happy f associations. Mrs. Fauthey presented Mr. Kell with a box enclosing a silver candy dish from the Smithfield Goodâ€" fellowship Club, in appreciation of all the kindness and favors received by them from the Kell family. A number of other presents were received from personal friends. Mis. Kell then thanked the ladies, but told how she had planned to have the Fireside and invite all church associates <to come, but Mr. Wilbur Wardlaw brough the good wishes of the four churches interested, and spoke of the good work being done by Rev. Kell. He also praised Mrs. Kell and daughâ€" ters, Fanis, Ened, and Margaret for their work in all the different orâ€" ganizations of Thistletown. Then came the highlight of the evening when the three WA presiâ€" dents, Mrs. Futcher of Ebenezer, Mrs. Clarence Killam of Sharon and Mrs, Frank Prior of Thistleâ€" town, presented Rev. and Mrs. Kell with a beautiful silver tea service and trav. Rev. James McKenzie of Westâ€" minster, Weston, brought greetings and best wisher from the Minisâ€" terial Association, His stories were humorous and delightful, ASTHMA Don‘t wheeze, gasp, cough, fiiht for breath. A lovely basket of ‘mums were veceived from Smithfield Sunday School. Mr. C. B. Parsons, who brought greetings from Fairbank, a former charge of Mr, Kell of which Mr. Parson was an Elder. He recalled many incidents and used a lot of poetry to express his thoughts and was a treat to listen to. He menâ€" tioned that Mr. Kell had been there for seven years and had 700 good sermons to take away with him when he left for Cochrane, but there were two series he would enâ€" joy hearing again, first one on the Beatitudes and the second on the Life of Christ. Mr. Frank Prior was master of ceremonies for the evening, alâ€" though he seemed to have some misgivings as to his ability to perâ€" form the duties required, he left nothing to be desired. He first called on Mr. Peter Bruce for a solo. Mr, Bruce was choir master at Fairbank when Mr. Kell was pastor there, He sang a lovely solo accompanied by Mr. H. England, organist and leader of the Thistleâ€" town Church, Rev. Stephen Mathers, an old friend of student days, in fact a roommate of Mr. Kell. He told nuâ€" merous stories of college life, he brought best wishes from many other student friends who would like to have been there toe. _A Fireside Tea was held in Thistletown _ United Church â€" on Sunday evening after the evening service. It was quite different to those, usually held as it was to ceâ€" lebrate the twentyâ€"fifth wedding anniversary of Rev. and Mrs, J. A. C. The â€"regular meeting of the Westminster Woman‘s Missionary Society with the president, W. D. Taylor, in the chair. The meeting opened with prayer by the presiâ€" dent followed by the theme song. Minutes were read and adopted and reports received. A pleasing duet "Go, Spread the Tidings" was sung by Mrs, R. Best and Mrs. H. Dickin. Mrs. C. Degroat was in charge of the study book,. The worship service opened with hymn 26, folâ€" lowed by the scripture, read by Mrs. Whitham from Ephesians, the 4th chapter and Romans, the 12th chapter. The theme for October was "The Courts of the Lord," and Mrs. Degroat reminded us that "worship is a means of grace, a source of strongth." Papers were read describing the villages of Phone or stop in today! Refreshments were then served from a beautifully decorated table with pink candles and large centre of 25 red roses. Mrs. John Cameron of Smithfield poured tea at one end of the table and Mrs. Clarence Kellam of Sharon at the other. Mr. Prior then thanked all who had helped in any way to make the evening such a huge success. Continued from page 1â€" space. Following the services, Mayor Seagrave will take the salute on the Main Street as the participatâ€" ing units march past. The Weston Silver Band will provide music previous to the commencement of the service, and for the hymn singing. On Tuesday, November 11th, the dignitaries and officials of the town led by Mayor Seagrave, will mark the actual Remembrance Day by a brief service at the Memorial ‘immediately prior to the eleventh hour, At eleven o‘clock the town bell will be tolled, all traffic in the town on the main str‘et willâ€"stop and two minutes‘ silence will be observed. At the end of the two minutes, the bell will again be rung and activities will be resumed. ’ Mrs. Kell spoke of her loneliness on leaving England and going out among the Indians, but had found life in Canada very wonderfulâ€"and people always very kind. She again expressed her thanks for the beautiful gifts. Mr. Kell followed (having the last word) said that so many nice things had been said that it was difficult to say much except thank you. He spoke of their life together for 25 years as being very happy, and how they together had tried to do their duty as Christians in every phase of the work he was called to do.
