Future Projects Are Discussed By Women Of IODE The January meeting of the John Countryman Chapter, IODE, was held January 12, 1953, at the Weston YMCA. Continued from page r- challengn to all the women of Greater Toronto," said Miss Long, in discussing her plans. "The men who are working for the Fund have done, and continue to do an excellent job, both with corpora- tions, and with individuals, but it is definitely the responsibility of the women to complete the great task that has been under- taken. C. L Burton, our general chairman, has told us that the last $500,000 of our over-all ob- jective is going to be the hardest to get, We appreciate that, and we look to all women to help us in our efforts to put the campaign over the top. . Continued from Page I- more books were circulated in December, 1951, than during last December, 1,970 last year as com- pared with 2,480. Part of the cause of this drop may be traced to nther interests, such as television. (bntinued from page I- while the seniors run through the regular svas'm without losing only to be tripped up in the semi-finals The regent, Mrs. J. B. Johnstone presided over the meeting. Pro- jects for the future were discussed at length. Members were asked to help transport ladies and gentle- men belonging to the "Over 60" Club to and from their meetings. Volunteers readily agreed to be of service to the community. Women’s college "Women's Collegl Hospital, the only one in Canada staffed en- tirely by women dovtors, should have a special appeal to women. Its whole tradition is one of service by women to women, and now is the time for women to serve the hospital, which so urgently needs their gifts for expansion and modernization", Miss Long con- cluded. Total circulatihn for books dur- ing December, 1952, both adult and juvenile was 4,926 and compared with 4,932 in 1952. Six fewer books were circulated during December, 1952, than dur- ing Decembvr, 1951. This dues nut men that the Weston Public Library had fewer borrowers in December, 1952, than in December, 1961, it just means that the 3,500 borrowers took out six less books in December, 1952, than were taken out in December, 1951. Students, Adults Announcement was made con- cerning the February annual meeting when reports from all converters will be forthcoming.
