L. first commenced his journeys, Canada‘s export trade amountâ€" ed to around $16,000;000 a year. Now it is over four billion dolâ€" lars, and if it had not been for the trade disturbances <caused by wars and the economic stresses I am sure it would be even greater, T. L. Moffat cerâ€" tainly set many good examples." Major Anthes states that T. L. Moffat, besides being, as he put it, Canada‘s greatest exâ€" port pioneer in manufactured goods, had laid down for Caâ€" nadian industry the best proâ€" ‘"My good friend, T. L. Mofâ€" fat," said Major Anthes, "is in my opinion one of Canada‘s greatest, if not the greatest, deâ€" veloper of the Dominion‘s Exâ€" port trade." Major Anthes shared Mr. T. L. Moffat‘s love of travel and has accompanied Mr. Moffat on some of his many journeys to different parts of the world. The speaker of the evening, an old friend of "TL", was Major L. L. Anthes, a prominent Canadian industrialist who unâ€" til recently wes President of Anthes â€" Foundry, _ Introducing Major Anthes, Mr. D. R. Moffat spoke of his long association with ‘the Canadian Manufacturâ€" ers Association of which he was President in 1933 and 1934. Mr. Moffat also mentioned that Major Anthes had the singular distinction of having been electâ€" ed President of the American Foundrymen‘s Association â€" the only Canadian to be o honâ€" oured. In addition to recognizing the services of Moffats‘. older emâ€" ployees, this Annual Twenty Year Club Dinner served to celebrate the 93rd birthday of the Chairman of the Board, Mr. T. L. Moffat. At the annual dinner held in the Royal York Hotel on Friâ€" day, November 5th, the presenâ€" tation of digmond pins and watches was made to D. G. S. Smith, T. Rees, F. S. Dudd, F. Pastuszak and P. Ozymok markâ€" ing twentyâ€"five years of service with the company. Gold pins marking twenty years‘ employâ€" ment were presented to A. Ramsdin and H. Edwards.
