A motion was passed, that the auxiliary send a donation to the Salvation Army. The annual reâ€" ports were read at this meeting. All reports were very good. Pegg, Chairman of Provincial Command, Canadian Legion of the British Empire Service League and Com. Mrs. Vi Eggleâ€" ton, Secty. of Toronto and Past Pres. of Swansea Auxiliary. Citizens, â€" like heroes, are madeâ€"not born. Three memâ€" bers of a panel came to this conclusion at a recent meeting of the Humberview Home and School Association. Hall, The meeting closed in the usâ€" ual manner, with a social hour convened by Com. Miss O. COMPANY The three panel members in turn gave their thoughts on the makeâ€"up of a good citizen. Their sometimes pointed comâ€" ments brought enthusiastic parâ€" ticipation from the 45 members gathered there. The topic for the discussion, which was held at Humberview School, just outside of Weston in North York; was "What Makes a Solid Citizen?". Mr. Nichols led off marks on the value of ian citizenship abroad ‘"People in those countries beâ€" hind .the Iron Curtain," he reâ€" lated, "hang on to that little piece of paper verifying their Canadian citizenship as if it were solid gold." He went on to say that just being a citizeh, and being a good citizen were two different things. "Obeying the law, going out ;p vote, and paying parking nes do not necessarily denote a good citizen," remarked Mr. Nichols. Secretary of the Residence Council, Central Y.M.C.A. Mr. Hall referred to Canada as a "vast melting pot" of many nations. The biggest step we could take toward being good citizens, he said, was to learn to get along with other people. "I think we must learn to respect the customs of people emmigrating to Canada from other lands," said Mr. Hall, "in return for their acceptance of our culture and customs.
