b Fifteen ladies visited the home of Mrs. Mary Brown, 174 Calvington Drive, on Tuesday July 3rd, for a farewell tea in honour of Mrs. Jane Lewis who is moving within the next two weeks to Stratford with her family. Friends and neighbours gathered for the social evening, and presented Mrs, Lewis with a lovely cup and, saucer. We are pleased to report that Stan is resting comfortabâ€" ly. Mrs. Stott is the president of the Rexdale Bowling team for 1955. Ist Rexdale Boy Scouts Camp News Although the weather. wasn‘t at its best for the boys camp last week their spirits were never dampened all week. The boys had their Annual Camping Holiday â€" at Wallaston _ Lake (Eagle Lake Camp) 35 miles NE. of Peterborough. The boys were under the capable leaderâ€" ship of Mr. Lennard, Scout Masâ€" ter. Rev. Lennox of St. Paul‘s Church, Rexdale, Bill Loughrin assistant Scout Master and Jim Searle, Troop Leader. Swimming Pool and the chilâ€" dren are attending classes with punctuality. They are, being well supervised in swimming lesson and water safety. Preâ€" cautions. Elmlea children leave each morning at 9.15 a.m. Jim Searle and Danny Mariâ€" age won their 1st class badges. Rodney Coughlan and Ron Cross won . their Swimming Mariage won the Crafts Compeâ€" tition for Plaques and Belts. For the best kept camping site the Beaver Patrol had the highâ€" est marks. Elmlea children leave morning at 9.15 a.m. Stan Stott of 43 Stanley, Rexdale suffered a heart Inclement weather of Saturâ€" day, June 23rd., resulted in many last minute changes in the annual picnic of the St. Matthias Anglican church. The picnic was held in the St. Philip‘s parish hall, Dixon Rd. and over 200 persons enjoyed every minute of the day. The great efforts of the Men‘s club and its president, Clare Francis were responsible for the great success. The picnic was probably the greatest in the history of the church. 4 The afternoon was a bechive of activity. Everyone received free hats, candy, gurm, balloons, pop corn, ice cream, soft drinks and milk. There were races and games for the children of different age groups and all were able to carry away prizes. The chilâ€" dren under five years of age received a tubber pail and shovel. The married groups particiâ€" pated in numerous games and they also were given suitable prizes. The Men‘s Club of the St. Matthias church ended the seaâ€" son with a dinner in the church basement on Monday, June 25. The guest speaker was Mr. A. Hudson ofâ€" the Ontario Dept. of Lands and Forests who gave a very interesting talk on the conservation _ of â€" lands _ and forests. He explained, in detail why â€" conservation â€" should be carried out for both wild life and human recreation. drews Coehill invited the boys to a strawberry tea. Conrad Hayward at Willowâ€" dale, Ont. was the holder of the lucky number ticket on the rod and reel raffle. Mr. Hudson drew the lucky number for this prize. There were over 30 other prizes drawn for during the evening. The members of the club were impressed deeply by the fareâ€" well speach of Claire Francis who is leaving the club and the church.
