The new president, Mr. Colin Wrong, was in the chair, and it was with deep regret that the association was asked to accept the resignation of Mr. Thomas Dick, due to business reasons. Mr. Dick will be greatly missed, as he was a very capable leader. of the meeting. For further inâ€" A letter was received from Mr. Emond, regarding the reâ€" naming of the new high school. This matter is to be taken up with the Board at their next meeting. McGill as moderator, Mrs. Budge, Mrs. Jackson, Mr. «Gardâ€" ner, Mr. Main and Mr. Douglas, brought forward several interâ€" esting questions on the topic, ‘"The role fathers and mothers play in bringing up children in the home". This proved to be very interesting. Some of the conclusions that the panel came to were: (1) mother should punish the child when necessary, instead of leavâ€" ing it to father when he comes home. (2) Children should be given allowances, but must have home jobs as part of home keeping. (3) Providing chilâ€" dren are dressed according to the weather, the child should be able to select own clothing, and be taught to take care of same. (4) In preparing preâ€"school chilâ€" dren for school, they should be taught to put on their own shoes, etc., and put on outside clothing, be away from mother for a period of time, and not be shy. (5) Parents can help with homework, such as spelling and arithmetic fundamentals, but never help â€" with â€" arithmetic problems.
