There were no buses to take them to the little red school house; no warm, well aired school room; no fancy equipment for lunches, or for exer- cise. It was a simple, plain room with a big stove and the windows all frosted. Yet it was under such conditions that the simple edu- cation was given by a group of teachers who did not receive much money but devoted their lives to the pupils. These were the good old days when characters were built. These were the men and women who decided that their children should have the very best education and facilities. They were the individuals who laid the foundation for the marvel- lous educational system that is turning out men and women who are giving leadership throughout the universe today. It is well to remember these facts. Too often the present generation is being fed with the very best that can be given and is not fully appreciative. This is a section of the land that is filled with opportunity and requires big men and women to capitalize upon their educational advantages. Soon examinations will be segregating Ate students. Now is the time to make the most of the present opportunities and pre- pare to leave the individual impression upon the situation and conditions in which each one has been placed. Remem- ber the past but make the future still more productive.
