WESTON PAVING STONES RENTALS Mr. and Mrs. Bert Harrison and Mr. and Mrs.‘ Bill McKane, along with Trevor, Chris, Garth and Pamela, spent a very pleasant trip last Saturday visiting at Niagara Falls. The Bill McKanes have just been here from Ireland since last November and so were very enthused at the scenery. The former Doris Anthony was a guest at a wonderful comâ€" munity shower last Tuesday, when she opened gifts from nearâ€" ly sixty friends and neighbors. Doris was married to Ken Noble last Thursday in a. quiet cereâ€" mony in Christ Anglican Church in Woodbridge. Miss Gwen Doan was a guest at the wedding of Miss Shaw in Thistletown United Church last week. These two young ladies are fellowâ€"employees in a firm over in the Malton area. At the shower, those gathered were treated to a lovely buffet luncheon prenared by several neighbors of Borden Ave. Mr. Bert Harrison celebrated his birthday last Sunday, and, after church, was guest for tea with Mrs. Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. Bill McKane and Mr. and Mrs. David McKane at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans attendâ€" ed a wedding last Saturday in Toronto and then on Monday last, had to sadly attend the funeral of an aunt of Jean‘s. At the April meeting of Pine Ridge Presbyterian W.A. Mr:. Iva Barton of this community, was a guest speaker. Her topic was "Home Missions" and she gave & very enlightening talk on the various ways one can be a "Missionary" right in one‘ own community. The afternoon was a very enjoyable one, and the members were reminded to bring to each meeting, something to add to the November bazaar supâ€" plies. This idea keeps the busiâ€" ness of the bazaar to the fore and gives. each member a leisurely opportunity to help in her own small way and make the last minute preparations less hurried and much more interesting for all concerned. The boys slept in the Claireville Hall. A brisk walk between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on April 4th, got everyone home for a hearty breakfast. The Cub Pack continued their spring rambles with a wellâ€"attended hike on Saturday, April 5th. Some of the boys cooked their lunch over open camp fires. Another way the ladies of the community can help is to spend an afternoon at the Arena in Woodbridge, where you can have a pleasant chat while working on the cancer dressings and pads. The work is simple and easy and the resulting feeling, very gratiâ€" fving. The next Cancer Dressing meeting will be April 28th in the afternoon and all will receive a very warm â€" welcome, These dressings are supplied to any paâ€" tient in the vicinity in need of them free charge on the recomâ€" mendation of either doctor or visiting nurse. The response to the Toxoid and ] Polio Shots Clinic at the school last week was very gratifying.{ After all the phoning and letter writing done by three of the: community ladies, your cooperaâ€"| tion is appreciated. Don‘t forget | to return for second and third) doses on May ist, and May 29th at the school at 2:30 p.m. These| dates fall on Thursdays, as !hey, did for the first clinic. Anyone who missed this first clinic, don‘t | hesitate to come to the next one, | and, if necessary, you will get‘ your child started onâ€"the toxoid | or polio shots at that time. | Be on the lookout for your visitor, who is calling on behalf of the Cancer Society, sometime during this month of April. Be as generous as possible, and just remember that every little helps from a lot of people. Remember also, that research plays a great part in this fight about Cancer. Research and research only, can provide us with preventatives and sure cures for all the disâ€" eases grouped under the name cancer. Research has contributed to the solution of many other bealth problems such as tuberâ€" culosis, sepsis, polio, pneumonia. It can do the same for cancer. The one way, you can all help, is to provide the funds needed to carry on this wonderful reâ€" search programme. It is good to see Mrs. Mary Stokes and Mrs. Norma Jones up and about again after their reâ€" cent illnesses. We missed you, Norma, during your necessary stay in Toronto, and do hope you both will have a happier Spring. especially where you health is concerned. to know ‘how much they appreciâ€" ate the efforts of the entire comâ€" munity in assisting them in their recent boitle and basket collecâ€" tion. The neighbors were very generous, and the final count in dollars will help greatly in the fund for camping equipment and other needs of the boys. Although a great deal of the collected glass was of no value, there was enough of the necessary items to make it worth the Scouts‘ efforts in clearing away a lot of excess material, which was worthless to them. A great big THANK YOU from all the boys. . | _ Mr. Roy Lockhart and his Dad, | | Alan Lockhart, journeyed to ; |Crediton to spend EaSter weekâ€" | | end with Mr. and Mrs. Alf Smith | ‘and family. | |__Mr. and Mrs. Matt Campbell, | }Mr. and Mrs. D: McKane, Mr.| ‘and Mrs. Bill McKane and Mx‘.! ‘and Mrs. Bert Harrison attended | |last Sunday evening‘s service at| Cooke‘s Presbyterian Church in!
