Peter Paul Diane, 44, of Maple Leaf Drive, was put on proba- tion for 2 years for having a wife and family in Italy and a second family in North York. Diana, who doesn't speak Eng. lish, told the court through a written statement that he didn't realize he had been married a second time. In 1952, he said, Anna Alfino had led him into the office of a Bathurst Street United Church. According to Diano's counsel, Patrick Hartt, the defendant thought he was entering into some sort of relationship but cer- tainly not marriage, There was no priest in attendance and the transaction took place in an of- tice, Diano, who had been orig, inally married in 1942, maintain- ed that'if he had broken the law he did so unconsciously. Every year the Board ot Edu- cation, the Weston churches and service clubs co-operate to en- courage parents and children to attend Sunday School in the church of their choice. Last year record attendances were noted in the Weston churches as a WV sult of this campaign. Church and School week has had outstanding results in 1rar1- ous Ontario cities. The pilot campaign was held originally in Kitchener and since then has been used effectively by many cummunities.
