While nursing the local judo club through its formative stages, Mr. Fagan is also a clerk at the Shepâ€" pard avenue warehouse of Canadian Tire Corp. Last weekend he jourâ€" neyed to Kingston to win the Kingston District judo championâ€" ship. P for Fagan; he won the Eastern Canadian judo championship that year; he married; he went to Europe that summer with his wife and won the British Judo Council national championship. "Judo does not demand unusual physical or mental qualifications," the 29â€"yearâ€"old club operator said in an interview. "Whether you‘re under 40 or over that particular hurdle, judo is a sport you can enjoy without risk and with a real mental and physical lift." Mrs. Fagan, the former Angela Whitehouse of London, England, is herself a Black Belt judo expert. Young Bradley Fagan, who is 14 months old, has not yet taken up the sport seriously. Vernon Fagan, who was born near Orillia, has been interested in judo for as long as he can rememâ€" ber; even as a boy he was an avid spectator at judo exhibitions. He recently introduced a novel promotional method at the Kyu Shin club: free demonstrations of judo for groups such as business associations, service clubs and social organizations. Arrangements for these shows can be readily made through a call to the Kyu Shin judo club at CH. 4â€"4320 or CH. 6â€"7216. 2859 DUNDAS ST. W. Action Woodbridge now take on St. Mikes in a bestâ€"ofâ€"seven series, opening up at Ted Reeve Arena on Friday night and back at Woodâ€" bridge on Tuesday, March 1st.
