Some time later she heard of a mother who had lost her little girl in an accident. Despite the fact that she was a complete stranger to her she visited the mother and told her how the Lord had come close to her and comforted her. i m F n on ape e ad O TPOD ARIMNT OOOUOIARA ENT OE Result? The recently bereaved mother accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour and yielded her heart as a receptacle for the same comfort. A few days later some folks dropped in to visit her and she greeted them saying, "The most wonderful thing has happened to me! I have just received Jesus into my heart as Saviour." F . Poow eipe it Did you know that the prophet Jeremiah once wished that he had a summer cottage? He said: "Oh, that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayâ€" faring men that I might leave my people and go from them." Poor Jeremiah! He was tired of the sinful ways of his people and longed to get away from it all. How often do Christians in these times of conâ€" fusion and tumult long for a change to relieve the almost unbearable tensions! But, suppose that we are in a position where we can get away; what do we do then? Jesus gives us the answer. He tells us the secret of relieving our tensions right where we are. "Abide in Me," He said. He is waiting there with everything that we need spiritually. He merely asks us to make use of Him, counting all that He has as ours, too. IICALV E20 NOELTIUTCC How fruitful we become when we refuse to allow the crusts of bitterness harden our hearts toward the sufferings of others. Happy is the christian who looks past his own heartaches and seeks to be a blessâ€" ing to others. "Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit." John 12: 24. When we want to alight from a bus we step down on the step which actuates the mechanism to open the door with confidence and assurance that the door will open. If we did not take the step, if we waited for the door to open, we would never get off the bus. Jesus asks a similar act of confidence from each of us. He wants us to act spiritually as though we already have in Christ what we so desperately need â€"and, if we act so, we will find that we actually do have it. â€" â€" _ ‘"Therefore, I say unto you: what things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them." Mr. Vie White, district superâ€" visor, in speaking to the candiâ€" dates for baptism, explained, "The act of Christian baptism is not an emotional one but reached only â€" after much study â€" and thought. History is meaningfull to all churches, but it is parâ€" ticularly interesting to this church. St. Philip‘s history dates back to 1828 when the first frame church was built, In it Rev. W. A. In 1888 a fire destroyed the old church, but the newâ€" lyâ€"installed organ was resâ€" cued and removed to the sucâ€" ceeding brick building which was enlarged in 1955. In the spring of 1926 Mayor Robert Flynn organized and beâ€" came the first president of the Weston Amateur Athletic Asâ€" sociation. Its activities numbered tennis, lacrosse, hockey, softball and baseball.
