"He couldn‘t eat anything at all," Mr. McClure recalled. "For nine months he never gained a single pound. Then, somehow, alâ€" most miraculously, his appetite came back and he started to eat like a horse. Some of the hapâ€" piest memories of my life are my recollections of just watchâ€" ing him eat when he was on the way to recovery." Don, who was on the receiving end of only one penalty throughâ€" out the season, is described by his coach as a "natural."
