Rexdale Areu Works Committee‘s Report On Road Rules Last week Etobicoke council deferred decision on a recomâ€" mendation from the township enâ€" gineer that home owners he reâ€" stricted from planting shrubs or erecting fences on lawns portions of which are township property under "setback regulations." The formal report of the works committee â€" was â€" released . this week. The following is the text of the report: Clause 20 of chapter 1 of bylaw 6,477, a bylaw to regulate the erection and provide for the safety of buildings, reads as folâ€" lows: "No stone walls, trees, shrubs or fences shall be erected on street line without first obtainâ€" ing approval from the township engineer. If approved by him a bond shall be executed to the satisfaction of the township soâ€" licitor indemnifying the <~muniâ€" cipality from liability for any damage due to the said encroachâ€" ment." One of their athletes, a gent with the name of Nicholson, had a pretty fair evening at the plate; he collected two triples and a double to help keep his club in All Stars Roll Along; Sure Bet For Title With only four games left to play in regular league action, the Allâ€"Stars can do no worse than tie for the league title, even if they lost all of their remaining games. Two of the upcoming conâ€" tests are 4â€"point games. Still unbeaten, although tied again last week, Ken Avarell‘s All Stars continue to sweep on to the championship in the North York Softball League. Including last week‘y two entries, one win and one tie, the All Star record reads like this: played 13‘ games; won 11; tied two; lost none. _ In last week‘s doings, the Avâ€" arells hung it on the Franklin Men‘s Wear squad by 8 to 6. Bren Selvage struck out 13, walkâ€" ed one and gave up nine hits in posting his tenth win without a loss. in the cost of constructing future urderground and above ground utilities it was recommended that clause 20 of chapter 1 of building bylaw 6,477 be deleted and a separate bylaw be introduced to regulate the â€" construction _ of walls, fences, rock gardens, etc. on public road allowance and the planting of flowers, shrubs, trees, etc. on public road. It was further recommended that the township solicitor be inâ€" structed to prepare the necessary bylaw to ensure that: (a) No culvert headwalls which extend above the level of the driveway and no stone walls, gate posts, fences, private transformer vaults, snow removal, heating systems, rock gardens, etc. shall be erected or constructed on the public road allowance unless apâ€" proved by the township engineer and if approved the applicant shall post a bond or insurance policy in the amount of $100,000, indemnifying â€" the â€" municipality from liability for any damage due to the said encroachment, such bond or policy to be executâ€" ed to the satisfaction of the townâ€" ship solicitor. . {b) No trees, shrubs or bushes shall be planted on public road allowance within 50 feet of an intersecting road allowance. The elaborate system of detours and road closings incidental to phase one of the grade separaâ€" tion at the Six Points went into effect on Monday, Etobicoke‘s road department announced. From now on, traffic control cfficials said, the normal traffic lanes of Dundas street and Bloor street would be combined and restricted to one lane only for east and westbound traffic. Kipling avenue trafiic will be routed away from the Six Points ertirely, officials advised. Northbound traffic is diverted at Advance road and routed through to Islington avenue. Southbound traffic is detoured at Burnhamthorpe road. The most impressive statement in the roads department release was the frank advice to motorists that they would be "well advised to select other routés than the moted detours, thus avoiding the construction area entirely." In the Rexdale area installaâ€" tion of sewers on Vulcan street in the industrial sector has closed that street to all through traffic in the portion between Highway 27 and Iron street.
