In Weston Mr. Cowan ran into much questioning on the Avro Arrow. The people in the north end of the riding had not forâ€" gotten the cavalier action of the Diefenbaker government in sumâ€" marily breaking the contract for the manufacture of that great interceptor plane, thus throwing 15.000 people in the Weston area out of work. In Weston Margaret Aiken apâ€" peared for the first time on the same platform as Mr. Cowan. When she was asked why the government had gone to the unâ€" heard of length of giving orders to destroy the mockâ€"model of the Avro planes so that not a sample was saved for the Nationâ€" al Aircraft Museum in Ottawa she replied: "I do not know. How is it that vou know so much more about this man than I do?" The questioner sat down in amazement. Mr. Cowan told the United Automobile Workers at the Wesâ€" ton meeting that Canada has tak en action in the past against imâ€" ports from soft money countries and that "George Hees can rest assured that the other nations of the world will take action aâ€" gainst Canada."
