Present were all the candidates for Ward Seven plus the hydro candidates and Reeve Norman Goodhead. Mr. Service was not present as he had other engagements. There was little time for a discussion of any business matters pertaining to the Ratepayers Association due to the number of candidates waiting to speak. However there was some talk of the entertainâ€" ment committee planning anâ€" other dance which will be anâ€" nounced at a later date. Mrs. Walker, one of the candidates for Board of Education announced to the audience that there was an addition planned for Chalkfarm Drive School. This was welcome news to everyone. There was a good turnout at this meeting and everyone enjoyed the evening immensely. On Wednesday, Nov@mber 28, the Oakdale Heights Ratepayers Association held their usual Elecâ€" tion Meeting for all the «andiâ€" dates in Ward Seven plus the Hydro Candidates. The meeting was so arranged that the candiâ€" Weston Ladies Serve Tea At Winter Fair The following ladies from the Weston Area helped to serve tea on November 16th at the Salada Tea Garden at th Royal Winter Fair. Due to the number of candidates present, there was little time for a meetâ€" ing but the various reports were given as well as an appeal by Mr. Screeton for volunteers for the Social Committees Annual Christâ€" mas Parcel Parade. They are still looking for a volunteer for Santa Claus. This will be on Saturday, December 15th. Mrs. Screeton and Mrs. Hardy who are the guide captain and lieutenant of our local guide group offered the assistance of the guides as Santa‘s Helpers for the day and several women volunteered to help parcel the bags. Mr. Screetâ€" on gave an up to date report of the work of the Sports Committee and here another four or five volunteers are urgently required for about two months. Many people have promised equipment, transportation, time and money to this committee and there are at present only two members to organize the administration so that you can see the need for more help. If you are interested in joining this worthwhile effort, please contact Mr. Walters at ME 6â€"3613. The meeting lasted four hours and was very interâ€" esting to those who were present. Particplarly of interest to many in our area was a statement made by Mrs. Walker of the Board of Education that we would have a Junior High School for our area by 1963. This is good news as many in this area have felt we are the forgotten section of North York since we are I believe the last school to maintain eight grades or the twoâ€" level system as opposed to the newer triâ€"level system the politicâ€" ians and educators have been boasting about. Congratulations are in â€" order for Mr. and Mrs. N. Sidlofsky of Kanarick Crescent on the birth of their first grandchild, a girl born to their daughter, Mrs. Allen Burke (Joan) on Wednesâ€" day, November 28th. This young lass will be named Sherri Lynn. I must add that this information was supplied to me by one very proud little aunt, namely Eileen Sidlofsky, seven years old and an auntie already. Also in last week‘s column I announced the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Feder of Kanarick Crescent but neglected to announce her name which is Rhonda Miriam. Come on there stork, we still have a few more babies to come to Kanarick Crescent and the ELECTED December the 3rd is over and gone and with it went the heat of a township election. It was not until late Tuesday that the election of Joe Gould over Jim Mizzoni was learned in the disâ€" trict. . From appearances some of the election returns were lost in the unseasonal fog last week. THIS AND THAT The December meeting of the Home and School Association will be on the Christmas theme. The school‘s junior choir will render several numbers, while the audience will be asked to take part in the Carol singing, led by Mr. Ted Norman, choir leader of Elverston Park church.
