It backed up and sped away. The same car collided with another broadside outside of Port Credit, and again it left the scene, Three of the youths were reâ€" leased in court on Monday, but Alexander Lacroix, of Midland, was convicted for stealing the car, having no driver‘s licence, and failing to remain at the scene Janette Daughton, of 17th St., New Toronto, was westboung on Dundas St. with a passenger in her Volkswagen, when a car forced her off the road. Mrs. Daughton sustained back, neck, and shoulder injuries. The other driver did not stop. _ _ Harold George Franklin, of Roseland Dr., Alderwood, was placed on one year‘s probation for a series of breakâ€"ins at the local, library and swim pool, Jack‘s Family _ Store, lv:n'l{ Sports Center, Good Food Resâ€" taurant, Cassidy‘s Wholesale, and Bill Brown‘s Service Station. w A one night reign of terror on Etobicoke and Lakeshore roads was halted with the arrest of four youths in a stolen car in Toâ€" ronto Township recently. After a series of mishaps Metro Toronto Police put out a call for help, and the quartet was seen kicking the dents out of the auto y neighâ€" boring lawmen. _ Szedlack says he does not reâ€" member doing it Magistrate ‘Cloney fined him $25 or five days for being drunk, $20 or four days for damaging the cell, and was ordered to pay $25 damages withâ€" in two weeks or spend another five days locked up. Before that he had tried to kick a toilet to pieces in another cell, and was removed from it. Police had taken enough of his shenanigans, and took him to that bastille called Don Jail. On the way he ripped a seat out of the paddywagon, the court was told. Steve Szedlack, of Streetsvilâ€" le, did not like being in the limeâ€" light in the New Toronto cells, so he took his shoes off and threw them at the ceiling, smashing the light and taking chunks out of the plaster, according to police testimony, ‘ Danter has no previous record and said "The only explanation is that I was very stupid and foolish." He has been driving for 25 years. Magistrate M. J. Cloney imposâ€" ed a $50 fine or 10 days in jail. _ Danter gave a fictitious name and drove off. The other motorâ€" ist jotted down the licence numâ€" ber of the Danter auto and reâ€" ported the incident to police. A check of the registration revealâ€" ed the phony name. The clinching piece of evidence against the duet was a heel print on a piece of paper in one of the ransacked offices. It matched perfectly with a pair of slippers worn by one of the accused, a detective told the Court. _ But an Achilles heel netted Carl James West two years and his brother Donald Jacob twelve months in jail for the breakâ€"in of a Jutland Ave. office building. Items taken from the burglarâ€" ized offices were found in a trash can in the bufiding they were supposed to be cleaning. Money of the same amount missing was recovered from the brothers also, according to testimony, Percy Edgar Danter, of 7th St., New Toronto, pleaded guilty in Lambton Mills Court on Monday for failing to remain at the scene of an accident that occurred in Alderwood, Sunday, Testimony revealed Danter was rounding a corner on Evans Ave., Sunday, and his car became inâ€" volved in a collision with another vehicle. The two drivers got out and looked at the damage. did just that â€" they cleaned out the money and other objects, pens, a watch, scissors, a letter opener, etc. The bench awarded a suspendâ€" ed sentence, but told the youth that if he stepped out of line he would be brought back before him for sentencing, and added "if 1 gave you less than ten months in jail I would be surâ€" prised." Magistrate Cloney imâ€" posed an 11 o‘clock curfew on Lacroix. "If I imposed the maximum penalties and lined them up end to end you would be in jail so long you would forget what your mother looked like," Magistrate Cloney snd,l}nprevssin-x-â€"l.lcroam ix with the gravity of his offences.
