At Saturday‘s Session byâ€"laws 561 to i1 were giyen their second and third readings and the clerk instructâ€" ed to engross tham in the byâ€"law book,. Mr. C. Paterson gave notice of a motion next session to appoint county Mr. C. Paterson motion next session valuators. Byâ€"law 570 was tor the purpose of raising Shallow Lake to a police station. Byâ€"law 571 appointed Mr. Paterson a trustee of (. & M. Hospital from East Grev. Byâ€"law 569 appointed Mr. Richardâ€" son a trustee of (G. & M. hospital from South Grey. Byâ€"law 567 was in reference to the estimates called for, i. c. £35,020,80, Byâ€"law 568 was for the purpose of levying the county rate viz., 1 810 mills. Bylaw 566 equalizes the assessment of the county. It showed the entire assessment of county to be $19,956,000 and (Owen Sound contributes to that the sum of $1,640,000. Byâ€"law 565 goyerns pedlars, hawkâ€" ers, etc., and places the license at from $10 to $50 and $10 extra if jewelâ€" lery is sold. A number of byâ€"laws were read a first time. Bylaw 561 guarantees the $5,000 deâ€" bentures of the village of Dundalk. Byâ€"law 562 defines county bridges and distinguishes them from culverts. Byâ€"law 563 appoints Chas. Gordon as a director of the T. 4. & B. rail way. Byâ€"law 564 authorizes the transâ€" mission of assessment rolls from Townâ€" ship clerk to County clerk. The estimates for the year aggregatâ€" ed $35,920,80 made up as follows : Education &# â€"6,830 00 Justice 12,640 00 (ieneral expense 11,093 80 New roof on Court Hourt 2,000 00 Shortage at Dee. session, ‘96 2,000 00 Grant to 1st Batt. 500 OO Magistrates‘ fines, ete. 1,100 00 Int. on bylaws & sinking fund 1,957 00 Several other reports were brcugit in and adopted with very little disâ€" Cussion. Report No. 3 of Finance committee recommended that $200 be granted to the North, East and South Grey Agricaltural societies; that £25 be granted each teachers‘ institute in the county, and that $25 be granted to each Farmer‘s Institute.
