Mr. Campbell conducted a gaelic seryice on Sunday evening in Russel Hall, which was much envjoyed by all who unâ€" derstood, while others who did not, say yery little about it. _ We happened to ask one young man where the text was who answered, ob I dou‘t know, Mr. John McDonald, Priceville, presented, Haying is almost a thing of the past and the harvest is to the front, No rest for the tiller of the ground. It is with regret we bhave just hoeard of the death of Mrs. Heetor Campbell, of Yeovil, Bgremont, after a brief illuess of one day, July 23ud. Mrs. Campbell has been contined to the house for years, the immeodiate cause of death being heart failure. She has been a resdent of the 10th con. Egremont, for thirty four years. She was born on the 7th con. of the township of Yaughan, in the year 184%. She was a sister to the Iaie Mr«. Donald Grabham, of Glenelg Centre, and cousin of the McDonald fawily, Glenelg, near Priceville. By her death another lonely husband is left as a ship stripped of her sails by the fherce gales of tiixe for she who »gaod by him in prosperity aud in adversity is sleeping in the cold elay at Woodland cemetery. We as his dear friends in this part extend our symâ€" pathetic feeling to the louely husband in his sad bereavement, leaving him to the omwre of im who said, " I will not leave you comfortioss," for He will come again ro visit him in his lonely hours to cheer and comfort him to the end of his short journey in life for the time is not fir distant when they both sball again be reâ€"united in a world where there is no sorrow nor parting. Mr. Cook and his sister of Trayerston, yisited at Melbourn Hall last week. Miss Maggie Smith of Buffalo is visiting at her cousin‘s Mrs, J, Findlay. Mr. R Renwick, our popular mill ma», we understand, bas purchased of Mr. G, Bruce a 50 acre farm. Rey, Mr, Campbell left for his home on Monday morning. We would like to draw the attention of the (Glenelg council to the unsafe conâ€" dition in which the gravel pit is left at the Saugeen Hili, Durham Road, as it is now. The pit is within eight or ten fect of the centre of the road, and strangers or persons unequally balanced by the e{â€" feet of drink stronger than cold water might get headlong into the pit and & calamity might oecur which would muke our good township officers to become liable for damages of hundreds of dollars. So for their own safety they had better attend to securing it from danger. Mr. Duneasn MceAuley is visiting his brother, Walter, in Algoma for the last couple of weeks. Master Alex. B. Walker, of ‘Toronto, is visiting with his friends at Priceville and neighborhood for tho last few weeks. We read Mr. George Binnie‘s letter on " bard times" with much interest. It contained facts which would be wel: to consider by farmers snd busineâ€"s men of the country geverslly. As Mr. Binâ€" nie is a man who takes great interess in studying np matters relting to farming more partienlarly, it would be well for those engaged in that sphere of lite to »tudy Ins letter and apply the contenis individaally and see if it corresponds with the rules of good management. It is greatly to be regretted that those rules which sre laid down for our guidance in our everyâ€"day pursuits are eften violated by the most careful among ns. It goes without saying that this will be the biggest and most successful yet, there being no such thing as standing still with this big show.
