As the young generation knows little or nothing about building the corners it would be advisable for Dave to try some of the old hands such as Dugald MceCormick of this place, Allar McKinnon, of Durham, Duncan MceDonald Glenelg and a bhost of ocher good middle aged men who served their time at the business in their day. W. J. Bluakesione is engaged in our school ogain for 1900. Union Tnanksgiving service will be held in the Methodist Church on Thursâ€" day 10th October at 11 o‘clock in the forenoon. ftev. J. A. Matheson is to preach. Another of the old residenters of Glenelg passed away a few days ago in the person of Mrs. Samuel Chislet. She must have been a resident of the 80« th line for nearly fifty years. 8So the poor old pioneers of the Forest are passing away one by one and in a few years at most they will be all laid to rest from their labors. The funeral of the late Mrs. McDonâ€" ald of Gienelg Centre took place to the Presbyterian Cemetery in this village on Tharsday Oct. 12th and was largely attended. Mrs. McDonald was one of the pioneers of Glenelg being a resident for nearly fifty years. The sacrament was observed in the Presbyterian Chutsh here on Sunday last and was largely attended. The Fairs are all over now. Our fair was quite a success. We noticed on the Prize list. for Harness, that Colin MAcMillan of Dronrore got first prize. Malcolm Cameron and family moved to James Watson‘s brick house near the Methodist Church, and Mrs. F. McKinâ€" The woods are all stripped of, their leaves, every beauntiful tiny fdower is cut down with the frosts of the past week reminding us thit winterss fast urprtmching. He reports dull times. Fine weather prevails and the farmâ€" ers are busy turning up the soil as we notice a number of the fields are being blackened by hands of the plowman. The Women‘s Foreign Missionary Society held their annual thankâ€"offerâ€" ing on Friday last at 2 p. m. Mrs. (Rev.) Morrison, of Cedarville, was to have addressed the meeting, but owing to some cause unknown she could not get here. In her absence Mrs. (Rev.) Campbell took the meeting and spoke ably, _ Miss Lizzie Laughton also asâ€" sisted in the program. The mite boxes were collected from the scattered belpers and opened. _ $24.95 was the result of the meeting in aid of the Foreign Mission work. Deceased was a native of Waterloo County, and a | resident of this village for the past 25 years, moving bere from Elmira with her husband and three sons in the summer of 74. During all these years and up till her recent illness she had been an aetive and a useful citizen, very charitable and kind to the poor who in her, have indeed lost a true and practical friend. Through life she was _more reticent than otherwise, follmviqg the principle of the adage which says . that actions speak louder than words, She was the mother of five children, two of whom died in infancy, and one, Amos, since the family‘s location in this village. She survived her life partner, the late lamented Isaac Wenâ€" ger, about mne years. She was a memâ€" ber of the Presbyterian church, and in the village cemetery of that body her remains were laud to rest on Friday afternoon, â€" surrounded _ and deeply mourned by hosts of personal friends and the comtmunity generally,. _ Rev.
