4 The past week has proyen to be rather an eventful one, in which we have witâ€" nessed theâ€"pleasure of a weddiog and the sadness of a death. The former event took placa on the 14th inst., ut the resiâ€" dence of Mr Chas,Boyle, when his second danghter Elizabeth was made the wife of the man of ber choice in the person of Mr Gecrge L Ledingham of Dornoch. The bappy evont tock p‘nce about five o‘elock p. m. Mias Wray Jackeon of Hol. lanc Centre commeneed to play the wedâ€" ding march,. The patient bas since been able to come home and is improving nicely. The maiden squ@ew winter, which ulosed for a time rapidly but again ished out of sight and turnip. pul plougbing &¢., is again in operation . We here that considerable dis;satil- faction exists with the Council and eonsidcrable pull among themselves. Miss S Scarlett has gone to Toronto. TTTVTITR . IA70Z A appcits NAG DCen arranged by some of the Councilâ€" m and some parties, so the Council mnod a motion to not receive them, let them go to the County Council This was done but we haye not heard the result. It appears to be very unâ€" satisfactory as neither the trustees or people knew anything of this move only the parties who were in the plot. Quiet a stir now in Proton about sehool matters. The council held a meeting on 17th Nov. here and a numâ€" ber of petitions came into the council to redivide all the township into school sections. This it appears had been On Friday evening the 23rd a social was held in the house of Miss Elizabeth Campbell in behalt of the Methodist Church fand. The mirister from Priceville officiated . Mr Thos Parslow passed away on the 22nd, his health has been bad for some years and he took suddenly ill with inflammation of the lungs and lasted only a tew days. He was burâ€" ied on the 24th at the Methodist cemeâ€" tery 17th con. Proton. The new Methodist minister of Priceville officiâ€" ated at the house and church. The funeral was large. Mr Parslow was one of the pioneers of Proton and was a hard working man in his young d4ays before he fell ill. Mr William Copeland a resident for about 20 years here, died at his resiâ€" denee, 14th con on loth inst and was buried at Dundalk cemetery on 21st. He was 73 years of age. He was a &d farmer. Hecame from Hastings nty, was born in the north of Ireâ€" land and spent some years in the southern states. In religion he was & strong Episcopalian. Rey Mr Hill officiated. George Betioff, who was in Manitoba all summer, Â¥eturned a few days ago. Mr Andrew boans, who was north working in mills has retnrned here. he left his baggy here, borrowed a cutter and went towards Durham to see friends. Then the thaw came and he is there with the cutter. â€" He intendâ€" ed to hunt some as he had three nice boandg. with him. A Mr Rondals of the Guelgh Police force drove up here with a horse and buggy betore the snow storm and staid with his friend Mr A H Burnet, so when the saow storm came he was stuck. While the sleighing was grood Mrs Arch Ferguson has been on the sicklist for some time. She visited doctors in Toronto and is back again not much better. We have before mentioned that William Deans got married last sg:ing and he and wife went north to ult St. Marie t work, butnow he has reâ€" turned sick. He has taken up house in Dundalk and is very low. Our farmers have been vyery busy fall plowing and taking up the roots. Tbomlmrt of the season was so dry that little plowing was done until late, but a fair share is now done, but as I write some turnips are still out. Of course we had the election but it was very quiet, the quietest I think j ever Proton experienced. Mr Hartâ€" m I before menti'onedd had dbe}::n organizing his friends and his triends had a meeting here and in several of the school houses. Dr Sproule had one meeting here two nights before the election and a small committee was then chosen to work for him and J W McArdle came from . Markdale on election day to look after his interest. This was all that was done for him in this polling division. although there was a l‘:rge vote polled here and everything was quiet and the people were very sociable and agreeable. We have a report that Proâ€" ton had a Vieeâ€"President appointed by the riding Convention of Conservatives, that he held the office as such for years, felt proud of it, but when it came to work at the election he reâ€" ;gned,lo they had no organization re. news from here.
