We have to thank those who have attended to this small matter, not small to us by any means, Hallowe‘en has passed oyer and the evil spirits tried to do some small dirty tricks here but did not succeed very weli. The only thing of note was on Beer street to the north where a party of young paople drove out from Dundalk to visit one of our best farmers Wwith one of Danâ€" dalk‘s best rigs. The time went well till the wee small hours in the morning and then they started home. Then the fun commenced one wheel of the coach and other things were missing but the men turned out to search and kept it up till daylight without any success so they had t borrow & rig to go home in, but howâ€" ever they took the full. All well. Mr Wm, Kenning has gone to Montreal on a missionary tour and Mr, Geo. MelLeach has come here to fill his place in his absence. The new church is now crompleted D. Allan didjthe carpenter work anl painâ€" ing and bas given good satisfaction. We are expecting a big time at the opening Mrs H. Allan has been at Owen Sound to meet friends there. W, W, Hall has retaurned from Saul St. Marie, The success we have achieved is due to the fact that we have sold the peocle THE BEST GOODS at the lowest prices. 42 TKE SLATER SHOF... HOPEVILLE. $1 $1 Pleased to see from last week‘s Reâ€" view that old residents of this part Mr. Rudoiph Konold and wife (Miss Mary Bone) are prospering in Utah, and very sorry to see from the same source of the loss of Messrs Dan and Angus McKelvey, who mourn the loss of loved ones. Their old neighbors here symâ€" pathize with â€"them. f â€" Talk of a tea mecting at Ebenezer in about a month and they can get up a good one tou, it they try. Mr. Wm. Hunter of the 20th, is home from his old country trip and has many good things to tell. (Excuse this theft, Henry‘s Corners.) Mr. James Baxter has recovered some and is able to move about a little though weak. Some grumbling over the Hemlock Hill job we hear and rate payers are resolved to see township money rightly spent. > Cattle king Brown was through here picking up cattle and pigs at good prices still, though lower than they were. After a sojourn in the North West, Mr, James Laughton is home again and family and friends are pleased to see him. Mr. John McBeth has nearly finishâ€" ed his crossway job and substantially done too. Mr. J. H. Moore, wife and child were visiting Mrs. Moore‘s parents at Mono Road last weok. Mr. John Legate, though not recovâ€" ering rapidly was able, we were glad to see, to be at church Sunday last. Messrs Mulcolm Wilson, Donald Mcâ€" Inois and John O‘Hearn leit for timber making in Oeprey Monday last. Miss Jean Renwick has honor even in her own country and Sang " The Land o‘ the Leal" and "Sing to me the Auld Scocch Sangs" in particularly happy siyle, which is not depreciating the rest of her pieces by any means. Mrs Douald McRae who has been laid up with a sore throat is able to be around aguin. The concert here on Wednesday eyening was quite a success and the audience seemed to enjoy it thoroughly. Miss McCallum, though suffering a little from tonsilitis, was up to expecâ€" tations and showed a wonderful power of pathos in the Irish dialect piece at the same time skowing herself perfectly at home in the Scotch dixlect, in the **Mustard Plaister." She was encored freely. Rev. Mr. Campbell was in the chair‘ and very happily conducted the pro-l ceedings conplimenting the Dromore| choir and their leader Mr, Wm. Ramage | for the excellence of their music as well | as the very generous and effective way | they assisted at many entertuinménts.: a generosity which merited every enâ€"| couragement they got. . We observed | there Mr. Petrie from Holstein. sume] of the Marshall‘s from Normanby, the ; Hardy‘s and Aldcorn‘s from Swinton | Park way and others. | The neighborhood has been agam r e minded ot the sadness of deash by tlie removing of one of onr young boys iu the person of Master Johnnie Conolley. He left for Sudbury s»bout six weeks ago in his usual good bealth when on Monday his father Mr Tom Conoliey was called to his son‘s death bed. He died before is father reached him and was buried in Sudbury the following day. The decessâ€" ed died from some ailmeut of the throut. To the sorrowing brothers and gmeyed parents we tender our sympathy. [We are indebted to an occasional correspondent for the following account of the concert last Wednesday in Amos Churchâ€"Ed.] It is sometime sinee we hnve uoticed anything about our little place :o we will endeayonr to give some of its rezent occurences. Mr. Mathew Scott, of Osprey, sued Mr. Lewis Moore for the price of some trees cut on highway opposite his premises and damages for their removal. Owing to the fract that Mi. Moore is a pathâ€" master of the township of Osprey, the public were under the impression that by virtue of his office he had power vesâ€" ted in him to remove these trees if be desired to do so, but this opinion has been negatived by the judgement handâ€" ed out by Judge Morrison on the 16th. The judge decides that as there was no bylaw or order of Council to remove the trees Mr. Moure had no right to do so, and places the damage in favor of plainâ€" tiff for $25 and costs.â€"Advance.
