Corbett acted the part of auctioneeer and shairman in an able manner. The proceeds amounted o abont $20.00. Mr and Mrs Thos Bailey, Jr.. haye left for Manitoba after visiting friends in this neighborhood. % A tew young people assembled at Mr W J Wilson‘s on Thursday night and had a good tme. Mz Tom Wilson went to Durham toâ€" day to ship his tools to the tar west. We will be sorry to lose Tom, but our best wishes will accompany him where ever he goes VICKERS. Mr. Jno. Milligan was up to O. Sound on busmess last week. Mrs H. Johaston is wery poorly at present. â€" Dr. Gun is attending her. Mrs A Derby spent last week visiuiâ€" ing friends in the viemity of Hampden. Mrs John MeDonald has been on the sick list, but we hope for a speedy reâ€" covery. Mr Robert Smail entertained his friends this week. _A most enjoyable time was spent. Miss Eva Beoth is coming home this week, after spending a tew weeks among her many friends in Port Hope. Her aunt, Mrs Riley, of Priceville, acâ€" companied her. MrRiley met them in Toronto. Mrs R Mc Donald has been laid up with a very bad cold. Miss Mary Ann McFarlane spent last week among her many friends here. Miss Mary Wilson is also home. Her many friends will be glad to see her. We are sorry to write, that Mrs D McKechnie is very poorly with a sevâ€" ere attack of bronchitis. We hope she will soon be well again. Mr James R Wilson is home ftor his holidays now. The thaw has ecaught a cold by the appearance of today. _ We are likely to bave a little winter vet. Mr Neil Clark was not so well last week. The water iu the Saugeen river is very high at present, but we did not hear of any damage done as yet, by way of taking away bridges, etc. Mr Alex MeEachern is busy at presâ€" ent taking down Mr A McQuzig‘s old barn, which he purchased, and is to build it on his tarm next sammer. Donald McKinnon, the 8 year old son of Postmaster McKinnon, of this town, put down the whole school at a spelling match here recently. Mr James MeDougall, who got his leg broken a month ago is getting aâ€" long ftairlvy well, but will take a long time yet before he is able to be around. John McMillan, Jr. of the south line left tor Montana last week, where his brother is tor the past few years. Mr Farquar McKinnon, who lived for the past year in Mr Hank‘s old house. has secured a situation with Mr Bunston, of Yeovil, for this year. _ He moved there with his family last week. The Baptists have secured the serâ€" vieces of the Rev MrCook for the sumâ€" mer months, and service will be held every Sabbath at 2.30 in the afternoon. The Gaeliec Communion, held in the Presbyterian charch last Sunday, was fairly well attended. _ The English Communion took place Sunday before last and was largely attended. . We had three marriages in towu on Wednesday of last week, but as we do not know all the parties correctly, we will not attempt to give any names. Our Dr is kept busy attendiug to the sick and is mastering his profession well and good as he is geuerally sucâ€" cessful in his treatment.
