Py 3 CREMATION,â€"We are in receipt of an elegantly gotten up pamphlet entitled ** Cremation, its History, Practice and Advyantages " issued by the Mount Royal Cemetery Co., Montreal, who have just opened the first ‘Crematorium‘ in Canada. â€" There are, it seems 24 such in the States and many in Europe, and this new method of disposing of the dead is rapidly coming into favor. The repugnance connected with burning our dead will rapidly give way we beâ€" lieve when consideration is given to the matter as one of the necessities of modetn sanitation. â€" The funeral proâ€" cession haying reached the Imil({ing enters a conservatery, from thence passes through an ante room to the crematorium, an elegant room Where religious services can be held. This over, the coffin, made of the simplest material, is conveyed in a few seconds to the receiving chamber and placed in the retort, and the operation is not nearly so trying to frienss and relatives as that of lowering the coffin into the yawning grave. No one except by agreement is allowed to witness the incineration, and the ashes of the deâ€" deceased are at the disposal of the !'eh\lliyes the follo_wing morning. Sureâ€" At the close of the examinatcion a programme of recitations, songs and choruses rendered by the pupils 5elight ed an audience of interested parents and friends ; after which Mr_ Barry (chairman) and Mr McKenna added not a little to the enjoyment of the occasion by a number of comic song selections. Pupils and visitors were then treated to some delicious taffy. for which thanks were due Mrs Quirk. ly this passage from -;.)-n;t-lj'e-f-a.t;'tio;“.t‘o purity is to be preferred to the slow and unthink@ble processes o# the grave. The average reader who detects a misspelled word or a letter upside down feels that his mission on earth is not fully accomplishâ€" ed till he has called the attention of the overworked editor to the glaring defect. He does not notice the thousands and tens of thousands of letters that are in the ‘right place, not the multitude of words correctly spelled, but his eagle eye is glued on the one thas is out of place, So it is with our deeds. Man does a thousand good deeds and no attention is paid to them ; but if he make one mistake it is flashed all over the world. A hfetime may be spent in building up a reputation that may be wrecked in a moment.
