St aples of Glenelg. Mrs. Ed. Evsans and children, who have been on a month‘s visit at the old homestead, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McLelâ€" lan, of Scotch Town, returned to her home in Rochester last week. Mr. Jno. E. Lenahan, Rochester, MA. Y., a brother of F. and J. Lenahan here, visited here last week and at Mildmay. He has been 15 years in Rochester and is doing well in the Real Estate busiâ€" Mrs. Orchard and Mrs. lIrving of Orangeville., spent a couple of days in Holstein this week, with their sister. Mrs. Hatch, and the former‘s son Mr. 8. T. Orchard. Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Reid, Yeovil. were guests at the Revirw Office Saturday while passing through to Owen Scund on a visit to their daughter, Mrs. Wm. Coleridge. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hussan, visited Guelph friends thia week, Mr, Wn.. Cameron came home last week and returned on Tuesday. He is at present working in one of Galt‘s industries. Rev. Mr. Farquharson visited the congregation« of Ayton and Mildmay on Monday and attended Presbytery in Palmerston on Tuesday,. Mrs. Geo, Sharp and children, Dunâ€" dalk, spent last week at Mrs. Thos. Brown‘s and other friends in town, and are now yisiting friends around Holâ€" stein. Mrs Harris and daughter Lily are visâ€" iting in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Angus alcArthur, Glenâ€" elg. near Durham yisited the former‘s sister, Mrs. Banks, at Owen Sound last week. Mrs, McDonald and daughter, from Aberdeen, haye taken up residence on the Hunter farm east of Upper Town. Mrs, McDonald is a sister of John and Adam Weir. Mr W. D. Mills and daughter Ruby are visiting at Molesworth. Mr. John Coutts, Barrister, Thamesâ€" yille, visited his sister, Mrs,. (Rev.) Farqubarson, from Friday to Tuesâ€" duy. Mr â€"John Melsenzie, of â€"â€"â€"â€"â€", Mich., came bhome last week for his mother‘s last illness and was present at her death. Mr. Henry Johns, of Separator Co., visited his home at Guelph. Mrs. Elvidge, Sr., is visiting her son Walter, at Craig near Fergus. Mrs, A. Marshall returned on Tuesday from a visit to 8. Egremont frierds. Mrs. C. McDougall returned to O. Sound with her daughter, Mrs. Fiddis, and will stay for some time. Miss Nina Burgess, who has been staying with ber brother John since last spring, leayes this week for Rochesâ€" ter. Mrs. C. Smith, Mt. Forest, spent a few days yery pleasantly with Mrs. R. Torry. 4 Miss Garden, Parkhill, has been enâ€" gaged by Miss Dick as assistant milliner for this season. Mr. Armstrong, from the States, a brother of Mrs, D. Jackson. is visiting here at present. Mr. and Mrs. R. Williamson, spent Labor day with their son Wm. in Mt. Forest. Miss Mary Ball, Dundas, was a guest last week and this at Mr. and Mis. Chas. Brown‘s. Mrs Irying, Orangeville, is spending a few weeks with her son, Mr. William Caldwell. Miss Jennic McFarlane of Boothville, visited her parents here last Sunday. and brother in Toronto. Miss Mand Irwin, of the Chronicle staff, is under the weather at present. Mrs. Grant, Mrs. Allan and Mss Smith were delegates to the W. F. M. S.. in Palmerston, on Tuesday of this week. The next gathering was fixed for Knox Chursh, Harriston, on the 3rd Tuesday of September 1904. _ All the arrangements ffor entertaining the large number of delegates were comâ€" plete, nothing being left to be desired in the warmth of the welcome or the toothsomeness of the viands, and if through the necessities of the railway time table manyâ€" had to leave before the formal acknowledgments were made, the ladies of Palmerston may feel assured that they all gayve thanks as they went along. Mrs. Harry Burnett, who has beon in Fergus Hospital for three weeks came home Tuesday a little better but will likely return, On the same day and in the same church the ladies of the Presbyterial otf the W. In this connection a new departure was made by arranging for an hour being taken at at least one meeting each year for the discussion of some current question. _ The first in this series is a paper on Prof. McFadâ€" gen‘s new book on *‘ Modern Criticism and the Christian Church " by Rev Mr Farqubarson, which is set down for 10 a. m. at the next meeting.
