The Directors have removed their building to a more advantageous position which also gives thein more room in their stock ring. They have alsoremodelied and improyed the inside so that it is now well agapted for exhibâ€" ition purposes and the many exhibits of grain, roots, fruit, flowers, daury proâ€" duce, ladies‘ work. &¢, that go to constiâ€" tute a good show, are seen to the best advantage. There was a good display of grain, all of excelilent quality. Roots and vegeâ€" tables were also good, but perhaps there ought to have been a fuller exhibit. Dairy produce was well represented and did credit to the butter makers of East Grey. Wt GHiL hi nk . There was a splendid display of Fruit and this is not to be wondered at, as the famous Cuckoo valley runs through that district, and apples. pears, plums, grapes and eyen.peaches, were there in plenty and pe:&znon and all exhibited in exâ€" cellent taste,,. The flowers too, althougha not great, in numbers, would be very difficult to beat in excellence, and afforâ€" ded abundant evidence that the people of Flesherton and yvicinity have a high appreciation of the beautiful. And t%e ladies‘ work ? It was there in abundance aud variety; it was there in things known and things unknown, in things useful and things ornamental, and in things that no man could tell what they were or what they were for, and as to quality, the lady judges would certainly havria. difficult task in making their aâ€" wards. The whole inside exhlition was a very creditable one, and geems to be well managed by the genial Secretary and the Directois.â€"Com. i â€" FALL FAIRS. Glenelg, Markdale........... MARRIED. tquie s ooo oâ€" To the satisfaction of our customers and their continued patronage we owe the success of our business. This is of particnlar significance to prosâ€" pective buyers in our line of goods. Whilst our stock of Watches, Wedding and Diamond Rings, Cut Glass, Silver ware, Clocks and other novelties. The price inducements offered by us are not in the nature of "special sales." They simply emphazise our exceptional selling advantages. Warchmaker, Jeweller and Optician. As usuat our local artistes in Millinery hbave held their Annual " openings" and Â¥l'nved to a demonstration that they are ully upâ€"toâ€"date and intelligent caterers io that fastidious somet hing, a woman‘s taate inâ€" attractive headgear. How came the idea that a lady‘s head was aâ€" dapted for a flower garden or anon a resting place and a clinging place for birds, bright buckles, and beauntiful braverie? How else must it have been but frowm the association of ideas which loyed to group everything beautiful and so the brightesc and the best of bird, of flower. and nature‘s brilliant colors were chosen to enhance that temale beauty of countenance which has inspirâ€" SUCCESSFUL MILLINERY OPENINGS. ed men and milliners since the world began. Sometimes, of course, soberer hues are chosen, but these act by conâ€" trast just as the cloud makes the sunâ€" shine more valued. The prevailing style shows flat effect in trimming, brims are wide and more regular than usual and the makeâ€"up is largely of beaver and felt, with a few velyvets, â€"Birds, wings, plumes and pomâ€" poms are the chief adoruments. Ready toâ€"wears are largely worn. 8, F. Morrock. Here we found Miss Sweet, who, for seyeral years past has been in charge of Mr. Morlock‘s fine show rooms,. _ Year by vens she evolves new ideas which seem to find favor with her employer and the public, and a large business is the result, _ Mr, Morlock informs us that on Saturday he sold no fewer than 28 bats. â€" Everything conceivable that goes to make up a perfect fashion display is on yiew here,. _ lnostead of the sombre heavy tones so usually worn in the cold season, we are to have brightness and lightness and delicate tint. The collecâ€" tion of millinery on view is such as one scarcely meets with outside the world‘s great fashion centres. ~PLAIN Greens, ruby and browns are to be the prevailing shades. A great deal of fur is used, mink and squiurel predommatâ€" ing, with white rabbit and moleskins for light haus. . Lace to give hats a vransparent effect is much used, while in suit hats and readyâ€"toâ€"wear hais, felt chenille, and taffeta are the principal components. â€" The flatâ€"iron design ( narâ€" row and long ) is very conspicuous, The old high * Gainsboro‘" is in eyidence, and the "Victoria Poke" in chenitle feaâ€" thers and malines. The size of the hats varies greatly, as they un from small to large. â€" Flowers, velyet foliage, velvet poppies in orange and green shades, also wings in delicate hues, are shown on w.any of the new designs. Jas. IRELAXND. The visitor here has his attention arâ€" rested by a display window in which an arched decoration plentifully besprinkâ€" led with birds, plumes, &¢, makes a pleasing effect, (forgetting for the time being the death of so many feathered songsters to meet the demands of fashâ€" ion.) Miss Ryder, is again in charge and has on display some elegant creaâ€" tious. following the prevailing mode yet evincing an originality of treatment which is sure to meet diversity of taste, Large stocks of readyâ€"mades and all sorts of trimmings &c, are taking shape to meet the demands of Mr. Ireland‘s _ many customers, One of the hats noticed was a white velvet shape with handsome black seâ€" quin applique laid on rim. Two large feathers hanging gracefully over back of hat and one drooping sofitly on the bair at s‘de. Another was of shirred black yvelvet with facing of many folds of black net. Two large feathers caught with long steel buckle finishes the top and another long plume falls on the hair. A child‘s flop of castor stitched felt trimmed with large bow of white and amber silk was very pretty. These but faintly indicate however, the variety and excellence of the display. Mss Dick. A sketch of the Millinery establishâ€" ments of town would be qu.te incomâ€" plete without a reference to the Lambâ€" ton Street rooms presided over by Miss Dick. Her tinely appointed parlorsg lend themselves to dispilay and her experiâ€" enced tasté, with able assistants, bhas furnished for observers a wealth of hat finery, elegant and unique, but fast disappearing, she hbayving made large sales, â€" Birds are shown a great deal un hats. One hat was shown, trimmed with a flight of birds, the foundation being made of navy blue cut felt. A pretty hat was one made of mink and pale blue pan velyet trimmed with roses and one quill, _ Far hats are yery fashionable. One pretty hat shown at the opening was a white cut felt. It was on the turban shape, the brim at the back beâ€" ing yery deep. It was covyered with the felt cut so fine it was aimost a fringe. the effectâ€"was charming. A graceful FACTS A.
