So we expect a change soon as we met Colin McLean taking home his engine a day or two ago. and isto give the first honor to the town farâ€" mers by threshing them cout first. Colin is always a welcome visitor at threshing time and his great trouble is nat he cannot please all by attending them when asked. Quilting bees are the order of time for the last week or two. We fancy that a goodly number intend tu join the Uuited â€" States Army betore Xmas, consequently the necessity: of being equipped by having a good supply on band ot homemade quilts as an extra bed or two will be needâ€" Mr and Mrs Jobn McArthaur (Warâ€" den) retarned home after hnving a very enjoyable trip up the Lakes to the Suo and other places of pleasure. David McNichol Esq., Exâ€"M. P. P. visited his friends the Nichol family near town, a week ago. Donald McDonald, teacher, was laid up tor over a weex with a severe spell ot sickuess; he however was able to resume his duties on Monday last. A large number from the neighborâ€" hocd are away this week at the Torâ€" onto Exhibftion. We are pleased to hear that John McArthur passed the examination at Onwen Sound; he intends to go to Torâ€" onto to complete his educatiun. The barn and contents of John Nichol Jr, was l.otull{ destroyed by being struck by lightuing on Tuesday evening of last week. Mr. <Nichol bad a semall insurance in the Grey and Bruce Co. We are scrry to hear that Mr Reilly of our town is complaining with a serâ€" ieas complaint but we hope to hear of his recovery. Without an operation Miss Emma McLean is getting along slowly but we hope to see her around again soon. Mr R. J. Conkey sold his dwellâ€" ing house and lot to Mrs Margaret McLachlan of the village. A number of our young men took advantage ot the cheap excursions to Manitoba and N. W. T. Bob Fisher deserves credit for he helped to take off two harvests besides his own and is done almost as soon his neighbors after all. John Mel tyre who is laid up with paralysis for the last two montbs at the McIntyre family place south live is no better. Miss Sadie McCouaig carries the mail from Top Cliff to Priceville. Sadie is a fine ubliging young ladyv, and some times she carries the mmale tco. Miss Mary E. McArthur returned som> time ago after spending a few weeks at Owen Sound. ~Mr McNichol., of Tororto, son of John McNichol Esq., of the Finance department Ottawa. spent s few days with his friends the Nichol family near bere.
